| Im thinking about getting a swiftech thermoelectric waterblock for my h20-220 system does anyone know if it will work with what i have? Also, do i need another source of power? Just reading about 10-19 degree temps makes me want this thing bad. So any help would be appreciated. here is the model http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/mer..._Code=93048LGA Thanks. | ||

| Won't work with the CPU water block you currently have and you'll probably need another PSU and insulation. More trouble than it's worth IMHO. Edit: Sorry read it wrong you're planning to buy the water block too, not just the pelt....in that case it would work, with your current components, but you'll still need the PSU + some insul just to be on the safe side. You'll be looking at over $200. | ||

| With the right wattage pelt, adequate cooling, and plenty of juice for the pelt, thermoelectric cooling can be quite the overclocker's friend. You'll definitely need another PSU for that pelt. Relying on your rig's main psu isn't a very good idea. Those pelt's use quite a bit of power. Underpowering them reduces efficiency and you could overload your rig's main psu if you depend on it to supply power to everything. Make sure you insulate properly. Don't hesitate or skimp on insulation. Make sure and cover a good 2-3 inches around the socket with foam/neoprene, a good 6-8 inch diameter area behind the socket(backside of mobo), and use lots of dielectric grease in and on the socket and cpu pins. You can buy dielectric greases on CrazyPC and other places, and you can also use petroleum jelly, that stuff is non-conductive and is a great insulator. I used petroleum jelly when I ran a pelt in my rig. I can't tell you enough how nerve racking it was to smear that stuff all over my socket and processor. I was sweatin' bullets the first time turning on the system after installing all the pelt stuff! Just use common sense and be careful and youll be sure to go far with this. Just ask us if you need more help bro! | ||

| You could do far better, and have some kickass temps with some better equipment. First off, that may be a cool package deal that might work descently, but lets be honest here, your going for damn cold. So get something that will cool to damn cold. Get a 437watt pelt, its alot more power to displace but if you can do it youll be alot more pleased with your temps. BTW your going to have to displace roughly a little over 500 watts of heat This can be done and be done effectively if youve got a descent water setup. I wouldnt attempt this with a single rad and i might be skeptical on even a dual. Make sure youve got one hell of a way to dissipate that heat.Secondly that block that comes with that bundle deal, isnt the greatest. Check out the Swiftech Apogee HERE It has a huge base that pretty much guarantees to cover the whole tec while providing great performance. I cant give too much advise on this subject because ive never done it, i aint gonna lie bro. But this is something that iam looking into and have done my homework on.....a little. Best of luck and if you hold off long enough ILL buy mine at the same time and we can compare temps. EDIT: Those parts that i listed can be had for just about 100 bux. | ||

| jobister thanks for support of knowledge on subject,I can tell you have been there.I was thinking seperate p/s for peltier other than computer type. Now lets put a peltier on sparky I think he is overheating, while he is 100% correct I`m sure.I was just wanting to try a basic unit on a project rig(for heck of it)not set new record. The both of you a big thanks for knowing,jo Last edited by jofultner; 03-January-06 at 07:05 AM.. | ||
