| maybe this has been discussed before, if so im sorry. im about to buy a pump. which one i dont know yet. my question is tho, how much is too much ? i have a RBX block running 1/2 inch tubing. from what i see and hear, a 350 gph pump would be good for this block. i wont be running any other blocks at this time, but do plan on adding a GPU block when i get a card worth OCing. also, i know max head is more important, but is there a thing as too much head? well for pumps atleast! MCP650 has a 10 foot head.. if i found a pump with 15 or 25 foot head wouldnt it be better, or is that too much? from what i gather max head works like this. measure how much feet you have in tubing and you want head off the pump to be equal or more than the tubing. i know restrictions from T-valves and other crap also effect this as well, so you want to add more head to adjust for this. so basicly i have 5 feet of tubing. with 1 block, 1 radiator and a T for filling and bleeding. now to adjust for the rad, block and T i should prolly add about 2 feet of head. i just guessed on the 2 feet so a pump with about 7 feet would be suffice for this setup. so with that above, the MCP650 with 10 feet of head would be fine with this setup? could i go overboard and buy a pump with 15 or 20 feet of head and not worry about blowing out my block or tubing? the MCP650 has a PSI of 50, but that doesnt take into account that once it hits the CPU block on the RBX, that pressure is going to jump due to the fancy holes. so is my logic fukkered up or did my 2 brain cells actually produce somethign which will mean the death of 1 of them? maybe im just overthinking this. i want to get a pump, but i dont want to wait for the pump to get shipped to me and will prolly buy a ehiem pump from a local shop as they dont sell MCP or anything there. tho gander mountian does sell a 500 gph 12 volt pump for only 13 buck... so hmm anyways, ill stop my babbling thanks Hellz | ||

I second that choice. The price, performance, and quality just can't be beat. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Do you have a budget in mind? there are more powerful pumps out there but they are more expensive. There are some low budget options that perform well if you are willing to do some modding. Don't rush into getting something quickly - plan your project. You'll get better results. | ||
