Default Oval 1/2" tubing... Any good?

I picked this stuff at the local No Value Hardware store by mistake. I thought it was round, I got 10' 1/2" tubing for $5 so I did not examine it too closely. This stuff looks like regular tubing, with a string mesh for extra support I guess. I picked this up to add my GPU to the loop when it comes in.

Does anyone have any experience with oval tubing? The barbs fit in nicely, and as the height decreases, the width increases. This stuff bends great! (but only in 2 directions, have to get it on the barb just right).

My question is this: Using some common sence on the setup, would oval tubing transfer the same volume as round tubing? I do not have any real tight corners, just a curiosity qestion.

Thanks for your time!

You don't want that crap stock tubing anyway. It discolors and breaks down quickly. What you want to be looking for is Tygon tubing or something like it.

Default Stupid Noobs...

Well, I was hoping this post would fade quickly, but it looks my ignorance is on display for a while. For a update, I ordered some Clearflex to add the GPU block. I am going to add a wood box to the bottom of my computer to put the pump and rad in. It would be just too tight of a fit to get everything in my case. When I get it all done, I will post a pict.

Glad I could make a few of you laugh! That will not be my last stupid post I am sure!

I have a pict of my current ghetto setup, notice the lower case g in ghetto... Maybe you will like this also!

Have a good one!

Fred, consider yourself a special honorary member, I am looking forward to your build log, and it looks like you have a handle on things. It was a good first post though.

Fred that was so great. But hey if it makes you feel any better I actually thought about the question.
"Since when did they start making oval tubing? and why?"
guess i got excited for nothing.

On another note could this be used as an idea for bending tubing in tough places? if its oval does it bend better and not kink than if it were circular?

Id test it out but I got Tygon, getting that thing over 3/4" barbs was enough work (Thanks Zenz again for that )

Hey, we all make mistakes. You just made yours in a public forum for all to see. BTW, if you find any square tubing let me know.

Props to Fred for asking the tough, scary questions, and for having a sense of humor when everyone laughed and pointed. Three Cheerios for Fred (the three my daughter knocked off her tray this AM, it's all I got...)

Default If you can't laugh at yourself...

I should just change my name to Oval_T LOL!
Supa: Getting flat tubing might be an advantage in one way, but you would have to get it twisted on the barb so the bend is going the direction you want it to.

Have a great one all!
