| Apex Advanced Techie | Well I just got my package from danger den today and i have everything I need to start up water cooling. I went to assemble the peices so that i could run them for 24 hours away from the computer, and I realized that I have a major problem. My resevoir, which a purchased about a month ago before i got the package from danger den, has holes in it for the fittings. Unfortunately, the holes are not the same size as the fittings that came with it. The fittings are 1/2 and somehow the resevoir holes are much larger. So am I doing something stupid? Or is the resevoir faulty? Or maybe i just need special fittings....I thought the fittings that came with it would fit it. www.frozencpu.com/ex-res-36.html thats the resevoir. While I'm at it, what ratio of distilled water to Zerex should I use? I would appreciate all the help I can get. | |

| from what i read, this res comes with outlet barbs that are either 3/8ID @ 1/2 OD and 1/2ID @ 5/8OD. now did you buy a 3/8ID res and they sent you the 1/2 ID barbs? if the holes in the res are larger than the thread on the barbs, i am guessign that is what happened. i would call DD and have them send you the correct size barbs. maybe some people here could suggest some similar size barbs you could make to work if you really want to get this up and going now. | ||

| not sure from here. i threw in my 2 cents. my bet is they sent you the wrong size barbs. break out a ruler or a tape measure and measure the ID and OD of the barb. that will explain it all. if wrong size, just on the phone and give DD a call. if it is the right size.......... dont know. i plan on buying one of these if not similar for my new WC rig. so i hope this is a fluke or we are missing the bigger picture here. | ||

| Apex Advanced Techie | okay here it goes. 1. My tubing is 1/2 inch ID, and 3/4 inch OD 2. my fittings are 1/2 inch ID, 5/8 OD, fitting firmly into my tubing 3. my resevoir has 2 holes on it that are some weird measurement, looks like 3/4 inch hole, but is actually more like 10.5 or 11/16.... so as for the questions above, yes i ordered the right fittings for my tubing. The parts they sent me simply do not screw into the radiator. apparently after hours of frustration, frozen cpu sent me the 1/2 ID fittings for a radiator, not a "special" fitting designed specifically to fit their resevoirs. It goes from being 1/2 ID to 3/8 ID NPT. It says on their website that it is designed to go with my specific resevoir. Why would them send me fittings with the resevoir if they sent the wrong kind? Im about to email them and I hope they send me the fittings for free. www.frozencpu.com/ex-tub-32.html Last edited by hazardous; 12-January-05 at 06:54 PM.. | |

| You can get 1/2 inch hose barbs in a multitude of varieties: The NPT thread at the end of the barb might be: 3/4" 1/2" 3/8" Do the barbs that shipped with your res look like the right size to fit the tubing (and thereby the rest of the system)? Anyhow, take your tubing and your res to Home Depot. They will definitely have what you need. | ||

| Apex Advanced Techie | Putwig's idea worked perfectly, though they took me a while to find them. Thanks for all of the help. And yes, the holes on the resevoir were very large. The fitting they originally sent me was so small i could actually push it through the hole on the resevoir. Problem fixed for a grand total of about $3. On a side note, Putwig, do they have Home Depot in Canada????? Edit: What ratio of Zerex to distilled water should i use? | |

| Direct Cool Hoe | Make sure to put some teflon thread tape on the threads before you put the barbs into the reservior, and don't overtighten...you don't wanna split the resevoir, as the tapered threads get larger around the more they are screwed in. Did you get the nylon or brass barbs a home depot? Zerex recomends 1:20 ratio, Zerex to Distilled H20 and that's the zerex racing coolant additive sold here http://www.dangerdenstore.com/produc...&cat=54&page=1 Last edited by ZENNZZO; 13-January-05 at 09:27 AM.. | |

| Apex Advanced Techie | okay well I have the system set up and running smoothly for a test period. I used a 5% Zerex and distilled water solution. When I started up the system, the solution began to foam badly. Is that normal? Should I take the plug out of the resevoir to let the bubbles and foam escape? The pump is a little loud because it is obviously pumping some of the foam through the system. | |
