Default wc help

hey, its been awhile i got my wc and i was gogin to change my prestone and water, my father keeps telling me to change the hoses becouse the alcohol in the prestone will eventually eat the hose away and it will leak, it makes some sence to me but is it really necessary to change all teh hoses to ? and how often ?

what kind of tubing are you using? that will change how often or if you even need to change them.

probably PVC then as most aquarium tubing is just that. tell me did you pay 2 bucks a foot for it or less? under 2 bucks and it's mory than likely PVC vynil..I would replace it if after your done draining and it appears to have stiffend on ya.

ya it was less then 2bucks ya i guess i will change it, but another quick question which i tihnk might sounds ridiculous ? if i pump cold tap water threw my block ? how long will ti take the block to rust ? and will the rust if any make a huge difference ?

The same period of time as any other fluid rich in oxygen.

might as well just go get some distilled water. its cheap at safeway or albertsons.

the rust can eventually eat through the rad or block and can cause leaks as well as lowering cooling performance since the thermal transfer of the water is messed up.

Plus, tap water contains all kinds of bacteria, algae, and protozoa that will proliferate like mad. they will coat everything, impair thermal transfer, and eventually clog your pump.

And, tap water is conductive, so a leak is much more likely to wreck your gear.

Did we convince yet that this is a bad idea?

ya i know this sounds weird but i was gogin to connect my block straight to the tap water pipes ? so the water will be moving really fast ( no pump needed) does this help or will my block still crap out fast ?

so its not going to use the same water over and over? its going to be fresh water at all times? you won't have as much of a problem with gunk then but is the flow high enough for the system? guess it depends on your wb but still would you really want to risk the chance of a leak. plus this is going to make your water bill go up like crazy if its plugged into the water system 24/7

it may be enough for the shower to pinch but water is also being forced through some tiny holes in a shower head. not true with 1/2" tubing . ..

i think you would just save yourself a lot of trouble by just using a closed loop with distilled water. if you did do this your computer would always have to be near a pipe as well

No, its not a good idea (putwig already said why, except now you'll have an unlimited supply of crap) and wasteful as hell. Go to the store and buy a gallon of distilled ya lazy basterd.
