Question video watercooling with aqugate

I have a 6800 GT that i would like to water cool. My current unit is the Cooler Master Aqugate. I was looking at the DD NV-68 for the waterblock but am not sure if a) I need a second radiator b) if i need a second radiator where can I find one that is 80mm and fits 2/8" ID (3/8" OD) tubing c) if my flow with the aquagate pump will be suffiecient for two waterblocks.

Helps appreciated!

It is really hard to answer those questions, at the end of the day you will probably need to experiment a bit and see if you are happy with the results.

Furthermore, I don't think anyone here has had a chance to play with that particular unit.

I guess the first question relates to whether or not you are just looking to run quiet? Or are you really trying to cool and overclock.

If you are trying to maximize overclocks, I definitely would not add additional blocks to that system. The pump doesn't have enough umphh.

If you are simply looking to run quiet while keeping temps within acceptable limits ......... it may be possible. I would simply test the flow rate before and after the addition of the GPU cooler (outside of the computer). If the flow rate remains decent, hook it up and see what kind of temps you get.

I would not add another rad off the bat as it will also decrease flow. See how the temps are with the existing rad first.

If you do need a second rad the Black Ice Micro would match those specs. But I highly doublt your pump will float an additional block and rad!

Possibly a dumb question but, is it practical to have two pumps on one loop to increase flow?
I am not looking for extreme overclocks more just quiet operation and the video card right now is quite loud.

Thanks again.

Another option would be to run a seperate loop even...
http://www.dangerden.com
get a:
39.95Dangerden maze-4 gpu block
44.95BIX Micro 80mm Radiator
37.95Hydor L-25
20.00Fillport, hose and fittings

so for 139.85, an 80mm fan,and about the skill level of running a salt shaker,
you could rid yourself of that pesky fan noise...

Running two pumps in series will increase the pumps head (ability to overcome backpressure) so it might be useful here.

Again, I would try the single pump first and see if you are happy with performance.

So a seperate loop might be best, but two pumps should work fine?

A seperate loop would be great ....... but then you have entered the realm of DIY water cooling. If you are willing to go there dead easy:

1. scrap the Aquagate and sell it.

2. Build a DIY 1/2" cooling loop including CPU and GPU blocks, a decent pump and a decent rad.

It will be just as quiet, and way more effective. Of course it won't fit in your drive bay ...... but neither will a secondary GPU loop.
