| I dont know about that kit from exotic PC, but by far the best water cooling kit if from innovtech, overclockers.com Here is a review from overclockers.com....its a bit more expensive but i belive it will work better. ![]() EDIT- oh and by the way, fix you link EDIT AGAIN- forgot to metion in one of the best things about this kit is the waterblock, you can tighted that sucker down as hard as you want with the screw and its almost impossible to break the CPU core EDIT FOR THE LAST TIME- figured id answer the original question as well. There not that hard to install. probably the most challengeing asspect can be finding a place for your reseviour and radiator(especially if you have a small case), inside your case(unless you do it extrenal). Then you also need to bleed the system(remove air bubbles from the system). but the innovatech makes that very easy with there resivor. Hope this help a little Last edited by scapegoat; 24-August-02 at 10:21 PM.. | ||

| Scapegoat, like calling for Superman here I am, can't promise to save the day, but I am here. I don't know how I missed this for so long, sorry. DW has sent me a water cooling kit to review and it's due any day now. It is from Xotic PC and I think it is the same one. Therefore Goldeye, you may want to wait for the review before you jump. I have almost every peice of Innovatek equipment available and yes, they certainly rank amoung the best, and the most expensive. From the very begining of my first forray into water cooling I have constantly challenged a lot of the excepted "givens" about water cooling. Because of this I have begun to rethink a lot of things about it. I have come to except that a lot of guys want to water cool just to water cool, not for extreme performance but just for the hell of it. I don't have any problem with this. But I also know that for a lot of guys, once you get bit by the water cooling bug there is no going back. So with this in mind I have begun looking hard at the components so that when I suggest something to someone, it is truely a wise choice. Give me a week or so to give this kit a look see and get the review out, plus I think we will see some other real nice products hit the US market from Germany soon, and that gear rocks. Then I can help point out some information about your options that will help you out without making your mind up for you. In the meantime you can read some really nice articles about water cooling that will really help you out from Dave Smith at AMDMB. | The quality is excellent but I would not buy the parts as a kit. I would buy seperatly because of the following reasons, I will lay out everything about the gear, plus the alternatives. Real cooling is done at the radiator, the Maxexpert does a great job of cooling, but there are other very nice radiators out there too. If you want duel 120mm fans on it then you should try out some of the others like the Airplex from Aqua-Computer and some other ones, I will have to hunt down the link later. The Maxexpert rad is 3/8" so don't even look at 1/2" with replacing the radiator with another. The water blocks, CPU, GPU / Chipset, are all well designed and well constructed. The mounting hardware is decent on the GPU / Chipset blocks, Excellent on the Big CPU block, perhaps non better. Two weeknesses are, no room for peltiers on the CPU blocks if you are thinking about trying those, but I do not recommend peltiers, better ways exist for better cooling performance. Two, the hose barbs supplied are 8mm european threaded compression fittings. The tubing is a little thin so you will have to replace the tubing and it's very hard to find US tubing that will fit. A much better solution is to order two of the 10mm Plastic hose barb sets offered by HighspeedPC. They are threaded perfect for the blocks and work very well with 3/8" ID tubing, I prefer the 3/8" X 5/8" as it is thick enough and strong enough to last and not collapse. The thicker tubing is also easier to get onto the 10mm barbs as it's stiff and tough. The Pumps are Ehiem and very well though of throughout the community, the 1046 will be fine for a CPU block only setup, but if you want to add more blocks for the GPU, Chipset, HDs, etc. Then go with the Ehiem 1048. A very solid pump, any stronger on a 3/8" system will just dump additional heat into your system with no benefit. The small reservoirs are ok, but I much prefer the look of a new peice of gear called the Tank-o-matic. It looks to be a perfect reservoir which will allow easy filling, air blead, and looks very nice. Again, make sure you get enough of the 10mm plastic hose barbs for all the components. Use distilled water and a small amount of water wetter, water dyes work as well as windshield washer fluid as long as it isn't filled with additives. I have used anti-freeze before and it works, but it's there for an anti-biological / anti-corosive, and will lessen the cooling capability of the water a little. Windshield washer fluid or distilled water with the water-wetter will do the same as the anti-freeze and cool better. Windshield washer fluid comes in colors too Run your lines as short and too the point as you can without causeing other problems, the shorter they are, the less resistance to the water flow they will cause. Luck. Oh, as for other brands, I think you can do very well with both Swiftech and DangerDen, or Aqua-Computers gear which is very Boss looking. | ||
