| Hi, I have a quick Tygon Tubing Question for you Aqua Pimps. But first, I appreciate that I havne't been flamed for all my dumb questions about water cooling, which I really do appreciate. So here is the question. On my current / old water cooling setup, I was going the cheap route. I was using the 3/8 ID by 1/2OD tubing from Home Depot. It was the clear tubing. For my coolant, I was using Distilled Water, Water Wetter, and Red UV Dye from Sharka. Well.. I am not sure whether it was the dye or water wetter, but the inside the tube became "RED". The question I have is whether this will also occur w/ the Tygon tubing I'm going to be using? I know Tygon are suppose to be resitant to stuff, but I wanted to know if it will resist being stained by the Water Wetter and Red Dye? Oh.. also how much Water Wetter should I use for Distilled Water? I just followed the directions on teh bottle and use like a few caps per quart of water. Then I realized that is the direction for Automotive, not PC. So wanted to know if there is an optimal formula for PC Cooling? I look forward to hearing from you pimps soon. SAD | ||

Besides the foul smell of water wetter it will leave a slight tinge of pink on even tygon. I never used the red dye but I have used the green and they all seem to leave a slight residue. When I break down my system for maintenance I swab the hoses with a coat hanger and a rag...works mint and you need to flush the blocks as well. It might be my cats but I seem to have debris caught in the grooves of my blocks...all a part of maintaining a h2o system I guess... You might try some Zerex from DangerDen it works excellent and it doesn't have that foul smell... good luck Zennz | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I was told elsewhere here that red UV dye has particles in it, and it tends to build up... Zerex when mixed with distilled h2o will have a light-to-medium pinkish color in the tubing, and a medium-to-darkish purple color in a bayres. My CCFL's do light my bayres up somewhat, but it's not like the water is actually UV reactive. At least, those are my experiences with it. | ||

| where are you getting green UV tubing for 9 bucks a foot..or does a pop mean to tube your whole system...cause 9 bucks is cheap if you can tube it all with that...well maybe it's just me I need 11 foot of the stuff..and after haveing all of the tubes...Vinyl, clear PVC, tygon, clearflex...and now this UV reactive tubing..I am going to stay with the UV stuff...it's just venominal, plus I never need to worry about dyes...just a touch of Valvolines. dexacool and I am set...I am all for making my excubriant projects simpler...well when it's simple to make it simpler ![]() | ||
