| im no watercooling pimp, but theres some new coolant that was mentioned a while back that is totally non-conductive and performs almost exactly the same as water, and doesent harbor algae or corrode, kinda expsnsive tho... EDIT: just found it.... http://reviews.pcapex.com/cooling/fl...ve_coolant.php ![]() Last edited by Fu3lman; 15-July-04 at 03:59 PM. | ||

| There's nothing dumb about asking for help, especially with a project as complicated as watercooling. It's actually a good idea, because of the risk involved. The aquapimps love to spread the wealth when it comes to watercooling wisdom...they'll be along shortly to hook ya up proper. | ||

| Lokie's Personal WU-Hoe | This pump may be a better choice if you don't want an extra power cord running out of your computer. Assuming you're going 1/2" ID, there really isn't anything else that needs to be said. You're going to want some shrouds for that heatercore though. Could either shroud both sides(best performance) or just one. Don't forget the fans for the Hcore either. Your choice on these, but don't go the cheapie 120mm LED style. Get something along the lines of an Enermax/Panaflo/Delta depending on what noise levels you prefer. | |

| No more delta mama! No more delta! lol ok, ill prolly get panaflow ones then. about the heatercore, should i just buy the one on DD, or should i go to a car store and buy one? also, how much is that fluid? im kinda phushin the price now(10 ft of tygon is killin me, 30 bux for some hose.....) and thnx. ian | ||

| pj - "AquaPimp" - I love that term!! I will have to bite it. I just sounds so pimpish. XPS - as for you.. I would change the pump to a 12v pump. Running pump of PSU just makes life a whole lot easier. Either Swiftech or DangerDen. Did you see the new DangerDen pump? The little cube.. only $30ish.. and looks cool. That would save you lots of money, but not sure how well it performs. SAD | ||

i could just use a converter.... i wanna use it, or any other long cylinder one that looks good, what im gunna do is mount it on top of my case, and make a strip of like 6 uv led's under it(or drille dinto the tank and water proofed), hidden. then pipe the hoses thru 2 holes. this would give it a cool standalone tube of green goop look... just an idea. dose anyone know of a cheaper, but similar one? 70 for an acrylic tube with a lil bit of alumminum is a bit much... | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I've look for a cynliner w/ a alum cap, but can't find anything other then the $70 ![]() So I said hell w/ it, and did a 5 1/4 bayres for $25 instead. Saves lots of money, and you can use the $50 for a CPU or GPU block instead. I couldn't find any good reason to pay more for my res then waterblocks. But it does look cool.. if its worth it.. that is the question. SAD EDIT If you are going for a 1/2 system, don't mess with the innvotek cylinder res.. that 3/8 is restricting, and I think i read that particular res is more restrictive. just some thought. | ||

| Pertaining to 12V pumps, here are some good ones: http://www.dtekcustoms.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=140 http://dangerden.com/mall/Pumps/dd12vd4.asp http://www.swiftnets.com/products/mcp600.asp Otherwise you'll need a relay kit to run off 12V. If $30 for the hose is killing you, don't get it, and certainly not the FluidXP. Go down to HomeDepot and pick up some vinyl or silicon tubing for a fraction of the price. Hell even the clearflex on DD's website is half the price. Just make sure to cut it so the bends aren't so tight and you should be fine. To the heater core.....buying it from the auto parts store may save you a few bucks, but in its place you'll need to do some DIY work on the fittings. Your call. Also are you getting a dual or single 120mm fan HC? Try not to pick a reservoir that is counter-productive. Converters won't eliminate the restriction. You'll have to change out the barbs, which may take some DIY work. Cheaper cylindrical reservoir: http://dangerden.com/mall/Misc_Hardware/round.asp You could also make one yourself or give Zen a ring.....or just cut it out altogether. EDIT: Just remembered this....if you plan on making one yourself this is a good source for Nalgene bottles (made from Lexan).: http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/st...ategory_rn=252 Last edited by lAnonymousl; 15-July-04 at 05:46 PM. | ||

| Just a note on the Tank-O-Matic. That's what I run, I've had it since my system was 3/8. 3/8" is a simple fix as all you have to do is change out the fittings. You can find the proper 3/8" ID-1/4" BSP (not NPT) fittings at highspeedpc or sharka. In order to run half inch I retapped the holes in the Tank-O-Matic to accept 1/2"IDbarb-1/4" NPT fittings. Including one hole on the inside for the return line, the other inner hole I simply drilled out and threw away the short plastic tube. To replace the return line tube I ran a piece of tubing off the new fitting to the top of the tank. In short, it can be converted for 1/2", but it's alot of work. | ||
