| yo whats up im goin for the koolance aluminum water cooling system and it comes with a pack of this koolant stuff you need to pour in, i got a question about the liquid, will the system only run on that certain liquid or can i use water when i run outta the koolant or could i mix some remaining koolant with water so it lasts longer? i just want to know these things so if it just runs on the koolant ill have to buy a crap load of packs, and also how often on average do u have to refill you water cooling system? | ||

| First off that koolance pouch is nothing more then basic water additives...You dont even need to use it.... Remember one key thing above all else.... USE DISTILLED WATER..... for additive you can do a mix of 70% distilled and 30% ethylene glycol...(RADIATOR FLUID) use Zerex Racing coolant or something thats not predilluted.... Everyone is different..some use water wetter. some use dyes for color ...some use just water.... its up to you... Just make sure the water is distilled... and the rest is trial and error... ALSO DO NOT USE JUST PLAIN STRIAGHT RAD FLUID... that will eat the tubing alive.... 70/30 is what koolance uses in that pouch | ||

| As DW stated, there is nothing special about that Koolance pouch at all. I have used too different koolant mixes with great results. 5% Water Wetter in distilled & 7% antifreeze in distilled As DW stated, too much additive can be harmful, or at the very least, hinder cooling. I would not use anything stronger than 10%. | ||

| Putwig is correct in the coolant mix ratio to water....10% is a good number to shoot for...however the koolance mixture is 70/30....maybe they use diluted rad fluid....Once I heard an industry insider for a MAJOR cooling company tell me he runs 75% water 25 %additives..... You do wanna use just a little ethylene glycol to prevent microbacterial growth in the lines...Sometimes even Distilled water can be compromised..... unless you are really anal and boil it yourself....but you still have the bacteria on evertyhing used to fill it the air left in the system and what nots....you cant see them thats why they are called MICRO organisims....however...I have never ever had any issues running distilled a little coolant and even some dye....just be prepared to scrub your tubing if you want a color change when using dye... Water changes vary by user as well...Honestly i use mine untill it gets changed for VANITY pourposes only or if I feel the need to change a block or such...Drain and Fill .... I keep 3 gallons of premixed coolants here...they are no more then gallon jugs of distilled water that I put the additives in already ...I use them when draining a color to maintance the system...and fill it back up..IE: Blue coolant gets drained to the blue gallon jug...green to the green etc.....then I use that to fill it back up...its a matter of preference I suppose...But if your cooling system is put together properly you shouldnt have to do much but add a little water every so often to keep the levels normal..and even then its not like it evaporates at the speed of light.... THOSE POUCHES ARE A WASTE OF MONEY..... period ![]() | ||
