| Apex Techie Wannabe | I am in the process of changing my cooling system to 1/2" (from 3/8"), however i don't want to lose the shut-off valves that came with the thermaltake Aquarius III kit i got. Does anyone know there i can find replacement valves? Or a quick disconnect that closes when the tube is removed? Thanks Dave | |

| Direct Cool Hoe | With the cost of the self-sealing quick connects and the value of the system you current are running, I might suggest that you reasearch something that will do you some good. Not to diss your system, but... Get you a real pump and radiator, block...sans the fancy quick connects. They ae too restrictive and costly. Not nessasary. If cooling is what you are after do some homework... | |

Try http://www.mcmaster.com. They have just about everything. Hope that helps.
Exactly how can switching to less restrictive tubing adversely affect the pump? ![]()

Wrong. I have yet to see any testing that shows flow rate decreases as the inner diameter of the tubing increases.......quite the contrary actually.....and I guess Poiseuille's Law is wrong too?
Wrong. The cross-sectional area of 1/2" ID tubing is nearly twice that of 3/8".
True, but irrelevent in the tubing. When flow rate is held constant, water speed must increase to allow the same volume to pass a point in a given amount of time. The waterblock should be the only component of a loop with high water speed.
.......And wrong. A pattern? There are advantages, but in that loop, as others have mentioned, it may not make any noticecable difference. The impact greater ID tubing will make on your loop depends largely on the number and diameter of the other restrictions in your system. If you have many small restrictions in your loop, huge tubing isn't going to net you much higher flow rates. On a more note, Tekx, I don't even mind little snide rep points like "Nice try loser" and "stfu"....it gives me something to laugh and shake my head at, all I ask is that you know what the **** you're talking about beforehand. That's all. If for some reason you have a vendetta against me for prior grievances, whatever they may be, feel free to PM me anytime.....we'll chat. ![]() Last edited by lAnonymousl; 09-June-04 at 01:40 AM..

| Apex Techie Wannabe | I have replaced the pump and radiator, as well as added another reservoir. I frequently have to move this machine, the valves came in handy because i would disconnect the pump/ radiator case, raise the tubind above the secondary reservoir i added, then close the valves, allowing me to travel with the system without draining and refilling. | |
