Default Modified Rad Dilema

It is two in and one out. What my concern is that if I run the setup, pump outlet > Y > Dual inlets on Rad > WW CPU block > Y > Maze4 GPU > Z chip NB > Pump inlet, that I will be hurting flow because of the fact that the high velocity water out of the pump outlet will be split by the Y and then rejoined at the bottom of the modified rad. So I am trying to find out if in seperating and then rejoining is there any performance loss and if possibly there is a better setup to use, such as going pump outlet to blocks.

Normally it would be a choice of higher velocity (pump outlet to cpu block) or cooler water (Rad to cpu block). And normally I would opt for the cooler water but my concern is that the process of seperating and rejoining would rob me of enough flow that choosing pump outlet to cpu block may be the better choice. Now if the seperating and rejoining (2 in 1 out) is no different then a normal one in one out then I will go with rad to cpu block.

Anytime you split a path, add a fitting or change direction in any way you will adversely effect flow rate. Something else to consider is, when you split flow the water will always flow in the path of least resistance. That's why running radiators in parallel, even though it sounds like a good idea, never works quite as well as running in series.

If one half of that rad is more restrictive than the other you won't be taking full advantage of it's cooling potential.

The order of cooling components has been argued time and again. The plain fact is it does not matter what order components are in once a system reaches equilibrium. At that point, roughly 20 minutes after start-up with most systems, the loop is absorbing and radiating as much heat as it ever will.

The one exception being impingement based blocks. Impingement blocks like the WW will benefit if the inlet is connected directly to the pump outlet to take advantage of the greater pressure at that point. Inversely any other block in the system will suffer somewhat. Even then, it's all a matter of fractions of degrees.

Adding a fan shroud or additional fans will make more difference than all the tweaking you can do to the plumbing. My advice is keep the plumbing as short and simple as possible no matter the order. Avoid sharp bends and unnessasary fittings. And never use an elbow when a smooth length of tubing will work.

Just curious.....what is the rationale behind having 2 inlets?

It used to be a dual pass radiator and I modified it into a single pass to improve flow?
