Try using a washer or a coun in conjunction with some pliers.

Yup, I know exactly what you mean. I use the same res and noticed how easy it is to strip the plastic on the cap.

I just use a needle nose plier opened up to each end of the groove on the cap now.

a pair of vise grips with a quarter in them....or I also use the end of a slot cover if you put plumbers white tape on it when you reinsert it...It doesn't stick as bad
And thats from the guy thats stripped out 3 plugs

I had a big-assed screwdrive that I used. I also made sure that the angle on it was perfectly straight up and down. I quickly saw that would be a problem.

Here's the trick: grab a box cutters, wedge it in between the rubber washer, then push it out around the side for about 1/3 of the circle, grab the part that has came out, and then pull the washer off. Then unscrew the cap with your fingers. Works for me every time...

BTW, stupid me didn't know how to measure NPT threaded stuff...so here I am thinking I'm so cool because I bought a replacement 3/4" NPT with a 1/2" elbow barb on it so I can fill up my res extremely easy. Well, turns out 3/4" NPT is actually 1" hole diameter, so now I'm also stuck with some replacement threaded barbs for my crappy Via Aqua. Lucky that MCP600 is just waiting to be installed with my custom 6" cube now.
