Default Combined Resevoir/Fill&Bleed Idea

Okay, this may be a bad idea--if it is, feel free to speak up and be critical

I've read that in a system with T connects (like a 3 tap fill and bleed kit) the velocity of the water though the cooling loop will tend to hold the air bubbles in the stream rather than let them escape... I've read that the water needs to slow down a bit, like in a resevoir where water is forced to maybe go around a corner, to give the air time to get held up in the air trap.

But, from my impression, a fill and bleed kit makes changing the water easier in the long run. Well, I want my system to have as little air as possible as well as be easy to maintain... so I thought of maybe making a combo resevoir/3 tap fill and bleed kit.

Please keep in mind this is a side view and that the reservoirs would be very small, just large enough to be functional.

What do you all think? Is this a decent idea or completely unnecessary? Would it damage flow rate too much? What have I overlooked? I mean, to me, it looks like a decent idea--but if it is really a decent idea, it seems like it would have been done already... I'd like some feedback on this. One of the goals for my box that I am working on is easy maintenance.

Thanks

Bruce

Actually, I think I see how I can accomplish great results with just a 3 tap system.... I was confused because I thought of the T connect loop being hard to bleed and then took the objective of the 3 tap system to be the same pretty much but then realized with the help of this thread http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...hreadid=179007 how to properly use the 3 tap system.

In theory, your idea should work. However, I think it's unnecessarily complex. You wouldn't really need two reservoirs. You could just have one small res on one side of the main valve with the same results. Another problem is the sheer complexity of the device. The more complex it is, the more difficult it will be to fabricate, the more difficult it will be to maintain, and the more prone it will be to leaks. While it's a good idea in theory, just remember KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). Simple is almost always better.

If you have a reservoir, you really don't need the fill and bleed kit.

Plus the more holes you drill through the side of the res ........ the more potential leak points.

I agree...potentials are what will get ya...

Once a month...
Here's how I bleed and fill.
With the computer off at the psu. I take off the return line and replace it with a funnel and a short lenght of hose.
I put the return line in a jug and start the pump.
As the old coolant pumps out into the jug I fill the reservoir with fresh distilled rinse water.
Once I am satisfied with the rinse cycle, I fill with coolant. Replace the return on the reservoir and top off through the vent.
Every three months...
I drain the system and swab the hoses, break down the blocks. Copper goes into catsup. 0-rings get replaced. Radiator gets flushed and blown out.
Then I reinstall it like a brand new system.
and under any circumstances do I use TAP water in the coolant or loop. distilled is less than 1 buc a gallon.

Zenn, you're like the Martha Stewart of water cooling.
