Use Google and check out the online discount pet supply stores. I've also seen some pretty good ones on ebay going for low prices.

yeah i have been trying that , it seems hard to find a decent inline pump tho, i dont want a submersible one beacuse i am planning on making one of the innovatec's tube-o-matic type resi. outta acrylic... i was wondering what pumps are everyone else is using . i dont want to spend 75+on a eneim just to find out it is overkill

Ok, here are my thoughts.

That is a 12 v dc pump, which in theory would be awesome (you could hook it to your PSU), but I have not heard good things.

Most 12 v pumps are simply not up to the demands of 24/7 operation. That is the reason that we all (or at least the vast majority) use 110-120 V ac pumps.

Now, that pump has a second downfall.......it is only rated at 1 GPM or 60 GPH this is really, really low flow. You would use this only with a 1/4 " system (and even there I would be leary).

You are correct, Eheim's are pricey. But the community uses Eheim and Magdrive pumps because they have proven the reliability, durability and silence over and over again!

Many have tried to find cheaper solutions and some undoubtedly have good luck. But for me and my gear.......there are only two pumps!

Granted i have never had a h2o system but one can dream...
This might help you out i personaly had a magdrive pump when i kept fish ..best pump i ever owned ran strong and quiet.was not that much..but look around in some fish magizines and such and you can find pumps in there for cheap (if i remember i paid 100 for a magdrive 500 wich would be way more power than needed for a puter ,so i think) Dont want to slam any company but i have had nothing but problems with Rio pumps.

My Rio 1700 now resides at the dump. Not a bad pump, but not a great one either and it had problems freezing up after a power down. I'll buy nothing but quality pumps in the future.

As my grandfather used to say, "Buy the best and you're never disappointed."

You don't have to pay 75 bucks for an Eheim.

the link AntiM posted shows several Magdrive pumps at really high output (600-700 GPH). Then at the bottom there is a Magdrive 250 GPH but no photo.

Assuming that the 250 GPH model has the same appearance as the other ones that are pictured........

It is my exact pump.......awesome.......$39.95 US !!!!!

I paid $99 CDN back in Edmonton. Worth every penny!

Anyhow, either Eheim or Magdrive, both will serve you well.

I have a new MagDrive on the way, the 500. Got a great deal under the pond section of the Dr. Foster and Smith website. I'll be back on water within a week! YES!!!
