Load temps are more important. Run a stress-test like Orthos, Prime 95 or OCCT for ten minutes (to allow the maximum heat load to build up). Use CoreTemp to measure temperature.

Seems high for idle, try reseating your block before you go crazy. Looking at the pattern of TIM on the core should tell you if your mount was a little off.

My e6850 idles at about 5 degrees C over ambient temp with a Thermalright Ultra. It's 26C and idling at 31C right now.

Your temp's seems pretty high for a water setup. I have a E6750 on air, Scythe Mine, and my idle temps are around 35-38dC using Core Temp. Plus I've got it overclocked to 3.6 GHz with 1.375 volts (and I live in Florida).

well tried running OCCT for 10 mins monitoring on coretemp, temps load is at 60c. could it posibly be the waterblock im using? i have a asetek waterblock with custom top, modded the nozzles, the results turned out to be for the worse though.

That seems pretty high to me. My quad under water @ 1.5vCore loads at 60c.

What radiator do you have?
