Question One or Two loops?

Ok so here is what I have so farÂ…

One Swiftech pump, the MCP655, going to a thermo chill 120 x3 raid, then to a Apogee GT, next comes the stealth (for my 8800 ultra) and then backÂ….All this is housed in a new U2-UFO from Mountain ModsÂ…(I really should post up my work log so you guys can see itÂ….it is the sexÂ…)

So I have an extra MCP655 pump laying around and a black ice extreme raidÂ…My thought was to run a second loop for the north and south bridges and for the CPU mosfets. I have one chip set water block so I would just need one more for the southbridge and then the EK Mosfet cooler they offer for the EVGA 680i.

Do you guys think it would do just as well cooling using my current loop or would I be better making a second? Hell the MCP655 is a strong pumpÂ….10 foot head and 317GPH, which coupled with the low restriction of the Thermochill and the other blocks I think it might work on one loop. My only concern would be my CPU temps getting higherÂ….As of now they hover around 100-104f idle and that is with a 700MHg over clock running lower voltage (an Intel E6850 running with 1.35v core)

So what do you guys think?

Thanks!

Question Re: One or Two loops?

I'm gonna go stupid here since I know NOTHING about watercooling...

but couldn't you do a one-loop system, monitor the CPU temp for a few weeks, and then decide if the extra work and plumbing was necessary?

How much rework would it REALLY be to try a one-loop first?

No need to be stupid lolÂ…

To be honest with you that is not a bad ideaÂ….it is not like I would have to remove the blocks and mobo to install the second loop. All I would have to do is ad the extra pump and raid, tubing and fill the loops back up. Not much rework. The U2-UFO is huge and allows for easy access to all the components neways.

I guess some times the simplest answer is the right one :p good olÂ’ Occam's Razor

Yes, a second loop would be easy to install. I would suggest it, although a home made air cooler for all those blocks, works just fine...

CPU w/c loops are always best alone, IMO.

Those three in one loop too, would probally push a full CPU temp in that loop anyhow.

Advice from me.
Get 3/8 or 8mm for the second loop, stick with 3/8 or 1/2 for the CPU, it not only would look awesome, first having two loops in teh sex for a case, but having different tubing sizes, especially if they were different colors, and they matched the case theme, ohhh....

Get up some pics, those case are teh sh1t man, I want to see you rig, I heard 8800 Ultra.....

Hmm.

Single loop.

Use both rads and pumps in a push / pull configuration.
(just cause Ive never done it before and want to see your results)

Or More practical ,Dual loop.

Cpu and vid on 1st loop with the better rad,and all the rest on the second loop.

Thanks for the ideas guys! Yah I need to get some pics up...

The good thing is that I have 2 MCP655s and those swiftech blocks seem to work a little better using 1/2 tubing and that pump. I am excited to do the second loop as those mosfets get hot and the cooling solution for the chip set uses a small and loud fan...the damn thing over powers all 10 of the other fans in the case lol.....

Well come Monday I will order the second chipset block and the mosfet block and see what happens...Oooo and like s1ugh34d said I can get some different colored coolant for the second loop...I have blue in the first so I think clear in the second will be sweet lookin'

Â….Sweet, the guy that does all are acrylic work for where I work (we make biomedical lab supplies so a lot of plastic and acrylic stiff) just dropped off two big bags for white acrylic shavingsÂ….gunna be using that for snow inside the case muhahaha

Speaking of I need to call him to see if I can get some custom work done
