Default Cleaning and leak test

I just got my water cooling system hardware. and the tygon is covering in fibers from the packing beans as well as the raid, block and pump seem a little dusty.
Question is what can i use to rinse this gear off.
I did buy some PrimoChill Liquid Utopia but for 10,00 bucks i really don't want to use this a rinsing possibility.

I'm also looking for something to use as my leak test fluid.

I was planing on leak testing everything right in the case. Only the motherbord will be in the case, and the power will be coming from another computer I'm not to concerned about having the mach-up. as such seeing as I'm still waiting on parts.

Of course letting it dry out for about a day in case anything gets wet.

I've herd the listerin combo all over the site but i really don't want to use somthing thats going to make my computer smell. I know bleach will caroad the hell out of everything so thats not an option. Is their some kind of algacid i can pick up a homedepot or somthing.

I'm going to be running FluidXP Ultra through this system; far to expensive for testing/cleaning.

Thanks,

EDIT: Dose it hurt pumps to run them dry or not having the water flow consistant. I have the Swiftech MCP665

Rinse and flush everything with distilled water a gallon is 69 cents at CVS. You can use that for leak testing as well. You cannot run the pump dry you will kill it.

Pretty much everything Cpt. said! Cheap distilled water is what many people use as their coolant (with a little anti-algae stuff) so it'll definitely suffice for leak-testing.

You can rinse it through with tap-water to clean ****, so long as you flush it with deionized/distilled water afterwards. I find it better because it's annoying pouring bottle after bottle through. If you have good, clean tap-water in your area then you can link a hose to it and to the tap and just pump water through a radiator for example, as long as you flush through a good litre of deionized afterwards a couple times.

Though some people prefer no tap water at all and will never let it get near their loop.

Cool thanks guys I wanted to use distilled water, I just didn't want to risk it and have inexperience bring problems to a fun project.

1. I'll get a 5 gallon bucket rinse it out with BOILED water.

2. Use straight tap water to rinse the tubing.

3. Let tubing drying out.

4. re rinse tubing with distilled.

5. rinse block, pump, and raid.

(buckets for cleaning)

What do you think?

EDIT: I had a feel the pump wouldn't like it if i ran it dry i just wanted to make sure. (kind of like running a boat motor without water.

Bad idea. Don't let it dry out after putting tap water through it. It's when tap water dries and leaves water-marks from the impurities. Rinse out the tap water straight away with distilled, then let 'em dry in a hot laundry cupboard or something.

I would use distilled water to rinse, however depending on how many parts etc.... if you use tap water Immediately flush with distilled, the impurities will even cause your FLUID-XP to go conductive if enough are left in to create floating traces... or sinking traces....

other than that should be fine.... just rinse well with distilled and let air dry in a clean environment.

Ok thanks, I plan on running 2 batches of distilled water throught the set up.

batch consisting of 2 5 gal buckest and 4 gallons of distiled water.

First batch will be run twice
second batch run 4 times.
I picked up 10' of vynal 1/2" ID at home depot (man that stuff sucks compaired to tygon.)

I'm gong to tube all my components together and put both ends of the tube in the buckets.

Has anybody ever tired wetting the ends of the tubing before putting on the fittings, im wondering if you might get a better seal. I do have teflon tape for the fitting mounts.
