| OK... I finally went to the dark side, well sorta. I finally broke down after years of ribbing from Digi to finally water cool...here is why i did it. I have the Zalman CNPS9700NT fan on my 6000. mind you it is stock. under the zalman, it would load down to 68-72c...idle temps were in the low 50's. I know airflow is not the issue. i have 4 120mm fans in the case... it hovers... anyway, i went to water expecting a bit of a difference. Here is what i bought Block: DD AM2 TDX Rad: Black Ice Extreme 2 Pump: Laing D5 Res: Swiftec Micro Res. 2 cheap a$$ 120mm LED fans on rad, mounted to the back of the case with a swiftec rad mount. 1/2 Primochill tubes PC Ice Coolant. There are no longer any air bubbles, or anything like that in the tubes/block/res that i can see. i shook, wobbled and almost threw the machine making sure that there weren't anymore hiding anywhere... Anyway, i got it all installed after work. In fact i am on it right now. My idle temps are 52c, after 30m of OCCT smacking around both cores, it was at 64c. I have checked the block to make sure it was square on the chip, it is. I used a half pea sized blob of AS5 for thermal compound... So am i in the norm? Anyone here seen this before? I just want my machine to run a little cooler.... thanks!! Charlie Last edited by Chrome_Rust; 16-August-07 at 11:50 PM.. | ||

| That still sounds high for that chip, although I have no idea how hot they run. Glad to see you wnet watercooling. Did you lay the radiator flat for the first 10 mins of running the loop, that's always the hardest to get air out of. I would reseat the block again, make sure its nice and tight, and don't put any more AS5 on yet, but see if you have a even distibution of it. | ||

| well i am at work with my machine. my idle temps have stablized at 45c... running 250 x 12 on the core @ stock voltage. i let it "burn in" lastnight, scared me leaving it unattended.... but all was well. I think i am just going to run it. i like the way it looks, and i am going to more than likely add the 8800 blocks when the cash allows. Then i am going to go to a BIX triple 120mm rad, unless someone can recomend a different one. Thanks again for all the reply's! Charlie | ||
