| Okay for the third try ( i keep loosing my postes from accidental link clicking and I'm writing this in notepad first to make sure i don't loose it again. My watercooling setup System: E6600 Striker extreme Loop: CPU Apogee GTX or NexXxos XP: still debating, with the MCP355 it shoudn't matter what resistance, would like to use the NexXos though EK Asus NB EK Mosfet Ek - makes some awesome blocks, and I'd like to get them there Mosfets cooled, but i think i'd get the Watercooled OCZ kit if i do go this route... MCP355 Pump - 20ft of head, enough said MCR320 Rad - Got a deal on this can't pass it up DD Poly Res - indestructable, not the looker, but a nice old CDrom case should clean it up some... Tygon Tubing - I haven't tried it, always wanted to, and since alcohol doesnt stain tubing, or let algae grow won't need replaced. 99% Rubbing alcohol - not the best coolant, but nice to have, to loop can be chilled without a collant change, and its nearly ideal for algae proofing, and anti corrosion. Either 6x Silverstone 110CFM fans or 6x Rexus NMB-MAT 114CFM fans - The Rexus have better static H20, which would be nice, they will prove quieter in the long run, but those silverstones are nice and white... Any suggestion and or comments would be appreciated. Looking for performance, and good cooling power. Might add a single GTS block eventually, but then i would add another loop into the mix... | ||

| How about Late Yoon Fans? Yate Loon 120mm High Speed Silent Case Fan - D12SM-12 - Sleeved Products Model: D12SH-12 [D12SH-12] : Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come 88CFM and quiet I use 2 on my rad and they are only 6$ if you leave them stock unsleeved. What are you gonna cool the SB with? | ||

the NMB-Mat fans are as shown in this article/review Also can you imagine the kinda tubing coming off the board with CPU, Mosfet, RAM, and NB all right there...

Dude - Tygon is awesome! I'm more than happy to shell out the extra $$ for that stuff, it's worth it ![]() (and ethanol for coolant? it's got a pretty low thermal conductivity compared to water...)

| The SilverStone fans are nice looking, they are also LOUD. I'd stick with the panaflo's (NMB). You can always paint. The Nexxos is a awesome block, but the spray pattern is fairly tight. With the size of the E6600's core and in a multi-block set-up, you might be better off with the Apogee. Pin fins excel with larger cores. The lower restriction would also benefit the other blocks in the loop. But running a combustible coolant mix is probably not my favorite cooling idea. And as you stated, less than ideal in moving heat. If you're worried about biological growth, just go with a heavy mix of glycol and water. 25% is pretty much the industry standard for systems with few coolant changes. Something like Innova Protect is pretty much bullet proof. Or drop some bucks on FluidXP. How far do you think you could chill it without changing the loop? 33% glycol could take you to 0 F without a radical change in viscosity and vastly outperform alcohol. Just a thought. I don't like the idea of alcohol in a cooling loop on a day to day basis. Horribly trade-off for the occasional benching with the rad in a bucket of salted ice water. Everything else looks good. | ||

Damn, if someone had told me before I ordered my gear, I'd of gone with Tygon. As it is, I got ClearFlex. Let's hope it will suffice! Shame I only hear all about it after I've ordered, lol.

I've used CLearFlex many a time and it works just fine. You have nothing to worry about.

I hear you about the alcohol. I run a mix of PC ICE and 70% Alcohol now, and i couldn't be happier, no growth, no corrosion. But the mix seems to make the fluid thicken up with colder temps. Thats why I'm choosing 99%, Plus i like clear, My loop doesn't need coloer to be worth while. Ohh and so you understand what i meant by chilled, I'll be playing with DICE and acetone with my rad... but of course the loop will have the heatercore in it at that point. Did i Mention I'm going 3/8" tubing? Last edited by s1ugh34d; 09-August-07 at 05:48 AM.

| I've gone from 8mm to 3/8" to 1/2" and then back to 8mm. 3/8" is a good compromise, 1/2" is a pain to plumb and the advantages, if any, are slim. Newer pumps and block designs pretty much eliminated any advantage that came with the bigger tubings. | ||

| I found my coolant. It's an interesting, Glycol free Anti-freeze that is biodegradable, and its a more viscous mix. IceClear AF Non-Glycol Anti-Freeze / Heat Transfer Fluid - Orison Commercial Check it out, a gallon is $13 and it weight 9.5lbs | ||
