| Hey guys, im new around here , was checking out the site and loved the reviews so maybe you guys can help. Iv been building high end systems for about 6 years now and never OCed!... yeah i know, so for the first time i want to over clock my new CPU the Q6600 to about 3.0 1330mhz fbs, and wanted to know how high end do i need my water cooling system. Over the past few weeks been reading all kinds of sites, reviews n such and still have cant think of a good watercooling system. I got about 1200 left for my upgrade but still need a motherboard(waiting on x38) and my new gpu (8800ultra) so im looking to spend about 3-400 on a watercooled system. Here is a pic of my system, i dont have much space inside. sorry about the mess but i just got my mobo back from an RMA. ![]() I would like to cool the entire system, 3 HD's CPU, GPU, Ram (maybe), Chipset (might get the Asus Blitz Extreme motherboard). But if i can get a decent cooling just for the CPU, GPU and aquabay, im fine with that. I would love to use the Innovatek SET XXD but the radiator looks a bit small and where would i put it? Here is another setup i would like to use. (damn cant link, first post..) Goto guru3d.com they have a setup with my case using a zalman resorator Plus. But could it perform since i want to over clock the CPU from 2.4 to 3.0? (Q6600) how about all custom? Using the Innovatek HPPS 12V Pump, with an external radiator, but i'm afraid of Galvanic Corrosion. Plus i would like it in blue or black since i want to work on cosmetics once I'm done. Thanks guys! Ps. My CPU GPU and mainboard are going up on ebay tonight ![]() | ||

| For w/c everything it'll cost alot, I would suggest two different loops for you CPU and GPU. Also go all custom. Thermochill, Swiftech, and DangerDen are some great brands to look for. Thermochill Radiators - Home Page/Latest News Danger Den Swiftech Petra's Tech Shop | ||

| Sempr0n? | Aye, Dex is right. All you need to do is reduce the multiplier to 8x and then bang up the FSB to 375. Shouldn't even need any extra vCore if you've got a good motherboard. That said though, I notice you only have the stock Intel cooler, which is completely unsuitable for overclocking. If you've got the money, I'd go for watercooling, but you could get a Tuniq Tower and still attain reasonable overclocked load temps. I've got my Q6600 at 3.3ghz right now and it reaches about 82c max. temp in OCCT which is pretty toasty. I'm considering some WC but I haven't finished tweaking yet so I might be able to get some lower temps. What motherboard you got? | |

| Im currently upgrading my old asus P5WD2, i just bought an abit IP35 PRO and a Zalmon CNPS 9700 NT 110mm. I wanted to water cool because my computer generates so much heat that it keeps my room about 7-10 degrees hotter then the rest of the house, so i break a sweat everything i do some late night gaming lol. My current CPU Pentium D 830 Is always near 80c when i game. im also using a 500w TURBO-COOL 510 ASL PSU, i hope that can cut it for the quad since i got alot of drives. Yeah and i was thinking waiting on the water cooling setup, the parts i really want is costly and rather wait a month and raise the cash it to make sure i do it right. I also ordered a new q6600, i was reading last night on the difftrent product codes, the one ordered was a SL9UM. So i picked up a SLACR at ClubIT when i ordered my motherboard. I didnt want abit since iv only really used asus boards but dont want to spend to much since im waiting on the X38 chipset to be released. Do you think the zalman would be good for cooling the CPU? Thanks again guys. Last edited by JPC; 06-August-07 at 09:53 PM.. | ||

| Damn i was checking out the Tuniq Tower, that thing is NICE, i wonder if i can change my order. I was up till 6am reading all kinds of articles on WC,CPU, ect.. didn't read anything about the heatsink, just went with zalman since i heard some good things from them. | ||

Yup, just installed my Tuniq and it seems to have lowered my idle temps by about 5 degrees. The fan control is very useful too.

Is your IHS totally flat? I lapped mine (and the base of my ThermalRight) and that lowered temps about 5*C, voids any warranty though (the temp drop made it worth it for me though!). ![]() Last edited by Zaltan; 08-August-07 at 09:08 AM..

No idea if it's even, but I followed the instructions on the AS5 website - put a thin line down the middle and bung the cooler on. It specifically says don't spread it out, but I reckon I might take it apart and do it again, spreading with a plastic bag like I used to. Cores 2 and 3 should not be 6/7c cooler than Cores 0 and 1. Apologies for the partial thread hijack JPC ![]()

That like mine only mines usually about a 7c difference from 1/2 and 4 and a 4c difference from 1/2 and 3. Also sorry for the thread jack

| Your temps seem high considering the TuniqTower... I was @ 3.3GHz 1.4v with the stock cooler and it was idling at ~50*C and load was 80*C. Those were in CoreTemp, I will do more testing with it tonight if I'm not too drunk after going out for my mates birthday. PS This was in WPrime tests. | ||

Dont Trip, I'm getting some good info here. Still waiting on parts to come in, I did order the Tuniq Tower w/ Blue LED. I need to resend my motherboard back to Asus since i got it with rust and some type of mold/corrosion growing on it... ![]() Any good guides you can recommend for overclocking?
