Forgot to mention this to everyone....Slug will be stopping down next Wed-Sun to lend a hand with the testing ![]() OK, here it is...the "Air Cooled" test build is ready to go, gonna fire it up in a few minutes and install the OS using my E4300 temporarily till the Quad gets here. Let the Benchmarking begin! ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Sorry it took me so long to get here.... $Solid$ the Proc will be in your hands tomarrow... but it will be in my hands first ![]() (quietly looks around...) I am glad that i could be apart of this. This will be groundbreaking for PCA. All your ORB belong to US.... Charlie | ||

| The new 680i Bios is taking a bit of geting used to, and this E4300 was never a great OC'er, so I finally settled on 3.2GHZ (355x9) and DDR 1242 (2.3v) 5-4-4-15 as a good place to do a few warm up runs. I somehow was able to use the HD that was on the old Gigabyte board by updating the drivers, so I know the OS is less than optimal...my point was to get familiar with the bios as quick as possible. 1MB Pi times are pretty craptastic with the E4300, they are in in the 17 second range. I am sure that Quad Core will realy wake things up ALOT in the 3DMARK 05/06 tests tommorow, it scored a measily 12k at the stock 1.8GHZ, and 20k at 3.2GHZ, wich is barely faster than my best run with a E6600 at 3.9GHZ and X-Fire 1900's ![]() Just goes to show these 8800 Ultra's need some serious CPU horsepower to realy make them perform, this is just at stock GPU and Ram clocks, overclocking the video cards wouldn't help much at all at this point! ![]() | ||

| Just throw all that junk away.... It is aparant that it dosent score well. The quad isnt going to make it any faster. pffft. Who needs a quad core anyway. and 2 video cards! you'll never need that much graphic horse power... We should all use Athlon XP 2100 palomino's and 256mb ram and a Radeon 7000 64mb. If you need more than that. then you are just nuts.... Lol...RIGHT!! | ||

| lol, I am not worried, like I said...I just wanted to get this up and running fast so I had time to spend in the Bios. I'll drop in the Quad, give it a quick few runs, then put my other HD and fresh OS in that hasn't been BSOD umpteen times like this one had to put up with yesterday, no sense in reinstalling multiple times ![]() | ||

| QX6000 arrived today... You will have to ask Chrome Rust about the "Special" markings and delivery method ![]() 30 litre Dewar arrived today too! ![]() Of course Chrome had to make a "Deposit" ![]() We decided the stock wimp 92 MM fan in the Scythe Mine cooler would not be "Up to Par" with the new Quad Core installed, so did some minor "Upgrades" ![]() We had to remove the video cards, PSU, Top Plate to the case, and change from the OCZ Reaper 9200 to some lower profile ram just to get it installed ![]() However..I would say from the 17c idle temps, it was well worth it! ![]() (68F room temp) As a note: Those are some ass kicking high flow Delta 120's on each end of the Scythe Mine...between those and my "Bilge Pump" case fan, it tends to make your ears bleed, so in the middle is just a plain old Antec 120 that can be used for non benching sessions. | Good god... that thing is still making my ears ring!! As for the special delivery method... you guys are going to love this!! the QX arrived at work today around 10:30a. i was looking at it and thought " i need to play a joke on pat, something that will either make him $hit or go blind.... I have a LGA775 Celery 315 or something that was SMOKED! so i break out the marker and write some stuff on it...(look at the pics, you will see). then i found a little plastic bag to put it in. ( His REAL Proc arrived in a plastic container, chip pritector and anti-static foam) Make it look real jeanky. well I finally get off work 7pm, drive the 1.5 hours to Lima, Oh form Defiance, OH . Niccole (Digi's better half) Answered the door, i told her, i am going to play a prank on Pat. I walk in the living room, Digi is in a bean bag chair nekkid eating cheeto's (lol, not really, he was in the love seat) and pat was in a regular chair. I pull the Faux Quad Core from my pocket, toss it in the air in a very graceful arc towards Pat's general area... you should have seen their faces![]() ... priceless isn't the word for it. they both dang near pooped theirselves, i wish i had a camera. after pat almost bobbled the Crap Core Celeron, he looked at it then at me. Still both men were agape at the mouth. then i pulled the fastest chip on the planet avaiable to the general public from my other pocket. I handed it ever so gently to pat as $1000 processors dont fall from the sky ( although fake ones seem to). It toolk about 5 minutes for the shock of the Celeron thinking it's a Quad flying through the air, and Digi telling me he was about to kick my butt for throwing that POS. But since it was a dud... Anyway it was a grin, i got both of them good. I just wish you were all there to witness it. It was a Grin!!![]() Now wait til you see their faces when i Volt mod those 8800 ULTRA's ... HEHEHEH Never scared to voltmod. Anything for the last 5mHz.... | ||
