Question Loop help

I've purchased Petra's Tech Shop this kit with the TDX and no Maze 4 and also Swiftech MCRES-Micro Hi-Flo Reservoir (SFF) - 3/8 & 1/2in . I need help on setting up the loop. I was thinking

pump>block>res>rad>pump

Is there a better way to get maximum performance?

And for coolant I was thinking 50/50 of car antifreeze (it's red and non-corrosive) and distilled water. Anything else that would help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Generally, most loops put the pump before the rad (so the radiator ditches the heat generated by the pump before it hits the blocks)
Pump-Rad-Block-Res

As far as the coolant recipe goes - 50/50 is a bit strong...
The ratio that's commonly thrown around is 3:1 (water to antifreeze) with a few drops of a good algaecide

Thanks guys
the guys at XS gave me the same advise as MasterP for the loop. But for the coolant I have 2 different suggestions 1 for 9:1 and 1 3:1 (water being the biggest number)

Run the 9:1

As for the component order it doesn't make much of a difference. If you look at the two setups.

pump-->radiator-->CPU-->reservoir-->pump
pump-->CPU-->radiator-->reservoir-->pump

With all factors being equal except for the radiator changing from before the CPU to after you can figure out the basics.

Assuming the pump dumps about 20watts of heat into the water and the flow rate is 1.5 gpm:

Water's thermal capacity is 4186J/Kg-C at room temp.

With our flow rate of 1.5 gpm, that's about 5.68 liters per minute (lpm).

5.68 lpm / 60 seconds= 0.0947 liters through our pump.

4186 * 0.0947 = 396.414 W/C

So that means for every 396.414 watts added it will raise the water 1ºC, But our pump only adds about 20 watts to the coolant, so we figure out the effect:

20 / 396.414 = 0.05ºC

Our little pump makes 0.05ºC difference in water temperature between the inlet and outlet of the pump. So by adding radiator before you can lower you CPU temp by 0.05ºC. As you can see there really isn't a difference (that matters at least). You would be better off running it the way that gives you the least tubing with the least amount of sharp turns.

Nice explanation their Specialblend, whew that took a while to understand, but it makes sense.

The 9:1 ratio is the best i agree. The best W/C fluid is water, with a small amount of antifreeze(or anti corrosion fluid/additive) and a smal drop or two of algeacide, you can't go wrong.

I run a isopropyl alcohol loop, with around 15% water in the loop, perfectly clear, anticorrosive, and algea can never grow, plus the fluid doesnt get murky.

Once you start water chilling, a little more antifreeze can help a little, but a very very little unless you run some dry ice in the chiller.

I vote the 9:1 mix using Dex-Cool as the antifreeze/anti corrosive additive, it has components in it that lower the surface tension of water, also after running it for a year in my loop i had almost no algae growth or corrosion in my block/rads. Also it cools quite well.
