Default Question for you pimps that run dual monitors??

Ok pimps this just recently started and not sure what it could be, i will try to explain the issue i am having is when my 2 monitors are up and running they just shot off the video not the monitor itself, i am using a software program called Ultramon to run both monitors and i am running XP pro, my video card is a ATI X800XL 256MB AGP, i also have 1024 DDR 400 corsair ram for memory so i am not sure what is causing this to shut the video off, i did check to see if my fan on video card was running and it is so i do not think it is a heat issue but i could be wrong, my desktops are all set at 1680X1050, i also got all the up to date drivers for my video card so i am at a loss why it would just all over a sudden shut the video off and of course i have to do hard reboot to restart the the computer, now it has been fine for the last half hour where it did this before with in a 15 min span before doing it 2 times with in the 15mins.

Power Supply? List your complete system specs.

Are you dragging video (in the player) between monitors?

I have had that problem with my nVidia cards before... might pay to update your driver perhaps?

Why use a third party program to control your displays? I use the ATI Catlyst Control Center to change between my three displays and have never had any issues. My guess is that the issue has to do with your software or software configuration (eg - Ultramon).

MasterP no not dragging any video between the monitors only thing mainly i have been dragging is web pages, i also moved a few of my desktop icons to the other monitor and i have all the latest drivers for my video .

EvilClown i have a Hiper R 530watt, i highly say it is not the power supply as it is running everything else with no problem and like i mentioned before the monitors do not shut down just the Video and as for specs i thought i mentioned everything except the processor which is a AMD XP 3200+.

ratchetfps i am using this program because it was suggested to me for running dual setups and it is a trial period so i thought i give it a try, if it continues to do what it has been doing i will uninstall Ultramon and use my ATI control center.

PS. I am kind of leaning that it might be the Ultramon program causing the problem so will give it some time to see if it does it again.
Is any one else here have Ultramon that could tell me if it is possibly the program causing me the issue that i am having.

It is probably not Ultramon.. I ran it for years and still do (well.... I will be once I get my system with dual 7900's back up... Lokie also runs it... The thing about Ultramon is, its not to control the dual setup..... It is to enhance it.. It will add a task bar to your other screens so all your windows are not located in the task bar on one monitor.. It allows you to use one large spanned screen saved or a differant one for each monitor.. It allows spanning of wallpapers or using a differant one on each monitor.. ect... I could go on.... IF it was Ultramon it is an issolated insodent probably as a result of a conflict in software or bad install...

What kind of monitors are you running? Do you have any other video cards you could put in the system to test if you have the same effect..... Or do you have other monitors you could test on the system (not that I think its the monitors but eliminate the possibility....

Twizted these are the brand new 20'' ViewSonics wide screen i just recently bought from Sam's Club, as to another video card i do not have a spare one, but i might buy a ATI 9250 pci card to see if it would help out and not put so much work load on my ATI X800XL, now i did uninstall Ultramon and i am now using the ATI Control Center and it seems to be running ok right now but time will tell, it could be that it was a corrupt file that i downloaded i will have to give it another try for i like the way it work with all the enhancements it gives you.

Ok pimps i think it had to have been Ultramon causing my issue with the video since my first post causing the issue, so i had uninstalled it and since then i been using the ATI Control Center and it has been almost 5 hrs and not once has my video shut off, so i am wondering if you think it could have been a bad download of Ultramon, and do you all think i should re down loaded it and give it another try for i like the enhancements and controls that Ultramon has.
