Default Laptop Monitor Problem

I have a laptop I use at home for just general internet surfing in the living room. It's kind of old, but it works fine except the screen can't support its own weight any more. It either falls all the way back or falls and shuts itself.

I'm not sure what happened to it because I'm usually only home for the weekends, but I was wondering if there was a way to remedy the situation. It's a Compaq Aramda m400 laptop I believe. Any advice is appreciated.

Pop the plastic covers off the hinge areas, tighten the screws holding the hinges. It may be too late to do this, as the plastic standoffs that hold the embedded knurled nuts may be broken.
