I have an unusual display that I'd been using on my media
PC, but part of me is wondering if I'd be better off selling it.
The display itself is a ~10" LCD. It has a native resolution of 640x480 from what I can tell, and about 3 dead pixels (one stuck on, two stuck off), maybe more. It runs on a 12-volt power source (I use a molex with a custom cable) and a
VGA input.
It also has a Microtouch serial touch-screen over the LCD itself. At times, it seems like it multi-taps, but it might be the nature of the beast.
The case is fairly heavy metal and has a non-standard mounting on the back (four bolt holes about 3cm apart in a square). I used some other holes in the side of the screen to hang it from a side panel with tilting ability.. You can fairly easily take the guts out of the case if you figure out how to remove the
VGA/Serial/Power plugs.
Now, I'd figure such a monitor might appeal to someone else with case-mod ambitions. Since it has a lot of special features going for it (the touch-screen, the
VGA input, the size, the
PC-friendly resolution), it's a lot more attractive for a mod than like one of those car-TV or PSX LCD screens. However, that doesn't give me a clue how to price it, or if it's pricable high enough to be worth selling at all.
Any thoughts? I'd probably try and sell it locally (like Craigslist) cos I don't want someone buying it, then weeks later beefing cos they didn't realise what they got or that it had dead pixels, and also because the casing is somewhat heavy so it would probably cost a bit to ship and might get damaged in transit.
I bought it as-is from a guy who had apparently never bothered to hook the
VGA plug up, so I paid next to nothing (USD 15)
