does it work when set up as the main monitor?

if so there may be an issue with the video card

what drivers are you using?

nope doesn't work on single. the newest one. i used a PCI PNY fx 5500

I'll test it on my comp,
the monitor came from a teacher. he said it needed a new power switch because it would turn on.
But the power switch works.

If the green light's just flashing, but nothing else is happening, that usually means the monitor is toast. In my experience, it's telling you that there's no incoming signal, but most newer lcd's will also show a 'test patern' of some kind telling you that there's no signal either, for at least a few seconds before it goes into the black screen 'power saving mode'.

The causes of this could either be a bad cable, which is easily tested, a bad connection inside the monitor, which isn't as easily tested or fixed, or it could be any one of thousands of components in the monitor that's gone out.

If the cable isn't the problem, you can either bring the monitor to a technician to check and possibly fix, but it'll probably be less expensive in the long run just to buy a new monitor.

Tho, don't get rid of it until you test the cable, and I'd also give it a few light 'taps' on the edge of the screen incase there's a loose connection you can nudge back into place.

The fact that you put it on another computer and it partially worked tells me that it's more than likely a connection issue. Is the cable connected permanently to the monitor? In my experience, most LCD's allow you to completely remove the wires. If that's the case, just swap out the wire.

It could also be crappy connections caused by whatever that yellow is. I'd clean that off with some paper towels moistened with rubbing alcohol.
