As someone with a 16:10 screen, I got fed up of having to run most games that don't support my native res at 1600x1200 or below. Obviously the picture is the wrong aspect ratio and so games tend to look a bit crappy. I was looking about the net for a solution and came across The Widescreen Gaming Forum.

They have a large database of methods to get games running at true 16:10 or 16:9 ratios, mainly involving hacking the config and setup files, so I hope people with widescreen monitors find this useful!

I am going to have to look at this as this has been a issue since I got my LCD screen

there's alot of info over at wsg.

In most cases what their really doing is building a database of games that support widescreen and how if it's not native.

It's interesting how easy it is to mod some games. For the Ghost Recon: AW demo, I just found the renderer settings cfg file and changed the values to 1600x1200. It's especially useful if the game won't let you use anti-aliasing or high resolutions.

but the problem is you want a wide aspect , rather than just a custom res.

It's nice when the game works for you tho.
