Samsung monitor problems.

I just got back from Europe and my pc has been sitting at home unplugged for 8 days, now for no apparent reason when I turn on my monitor it sits black for a while and then slowly flickers in to full brightness. The monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster 204b connected via DVI cable. It has never done this before and once it is at full brightness it's fine. So I'm wondering if it is a software problem or something similar. Any help is much appreciated

Try VGA? Try a different computer?

If it still happens after you try a different computer, I would check with samsung and see if the panel is still under warrenty. Their warrenty process was pretty painless when I had my syncmaster 941bw die on me.

Hey,I have the same monitor with the exact same problem.

Its the Back light going out,Only cure Ive found is to disable the screensaver and leave the pc on 24/7 .

Mines only a year old, so its still under warranty,but I cant send it in until I get a replacement later this month.

cool thing about samsung, is that they will ship you a moniter and let you ship back the old one... If you look into the warrenty process, you can have the switch done at a ups store, at zero cost to you.
