Question Can't wake up monitor out of sleep.

Ok heres the dealio.

Just got a new Acer 22'' WS LCD monitor and its amazing, no gripes but one thing.

I went from an 17'' CRT box monitor and had that connected via analog, this new LCD i connected via digital.

When im not at my computer i like to shut off my monitor just for lifespan purposes but when i do this and go to turn back on my screen.
It starts up but then seems to not get a signal to display so it goes right into standby mode, keep in my my computers still on and running fine, but its like it doesnt have a command to display the desktop again, sometimes in a blue moon ill button mash my keyboard enough to start some program like the ATI catalyst control and it pops on.

But other wise i have to press my start up button on my comp to reboot my computer for the monitor to regain the signal.

Even if i start up my comp with my monitor off, then turn on the monitor after my comp starts up it wont catch a signal.

Now i switched the connection back to analog with the d-sub cable instead of the digital with the dvi and this doesnt happen, i can turn off and on my monitor at anytime and it starts back up.

All in all it seems that unless my monitor is on at the starting of the system it gets a signal but otherwise theres nothing that reactivates this when my computer is sitting. The monitor just turns on, says no signal then goes into stand by.

I know its alot to read but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A bit frustrating that you paid for the DVI capability, agreed, but IMO, stick with what works...

Now, if this would be something that is going to constantly pain you, I would start with contacting tech support for the monitor. Maybe there is some driver (display?) that you could try uninstalling / re-installing, to see if the problem is resolved or at least reduced.

Good luck, and let us know what you find out.

I had a similar problem. I updated my graphic driver with the new lcd hook up to the dvi port and it was fine after that. Check the driver settings and see if it thinks your monitor is still a crt.

So i tried updating my bios, my graphics card is alreayd up to date.

As for switching it to DVI from CRT it recognizes its a digital and not analog input, but I still suffer the same problem.

Once in a blue moon it will reawake if I button mash enough but I just can't understand this.

I don't believe its the monitor, theirs something thats not changed to full get a signal to the DVI.

Did you update the mobo chipset drivers? This could also be a screensaver issue. Try switching screensavers to "none". Also, what PSU are you using as this could be a Power Management issue.

I tried the updated my mobo chipset, nothing.

Turned off the screensaver, nothing.

My PSU is 500 watts or what not, 500 is the number your looking for right?

But the case is I also found out to add weirdness on weirdness, is I have my monitor set to go into standby after 10 minutes of idle.

So it does so and the button turn orange but I am able to wake it up with my keyboard or mouse.

Now just like i said before, if i shut off my screen, it turns on, then displays no signal, then goes into stand by mode with the button turned orange, but I can't wake it up with the mouse or keyboard.

This is driving me nuts, but i appreiciate you guys lending your wisdom.
