Default New Widescreen LCD issue...

Hey everyone...

I finally went and got myself a new 19" widescreen LCD (it's an Optiquest Q19wb that's made by Viewsonic)
Linky: (my LCD does not have the built in speakers)
ViewSonic Optiquest Q19wb - flat panel display - TFT - 19" Reviews. LCD Monitors Reviews by CNET.

So, I hooked up my monitor, installed the driver that came with it and set the resolution to 1440X900.
Everything looks great and I love my new LCD, BUT...when I go to play any of my DVD's it freezes up after some initial artifacting. It completely locks up my PC forcing me to reset.
I have a dual boot system running Windows 2000Pro and Linux Ubuntu...Since Windows wasn't playing nicely with my new LCD I decided to run it on my Ubuntu and voila! my DVD plays fine with no problem whatsoever (except my max resoultion is now only 1028X768 with no option to go any higher). Went back into Windows after deciding it's not the LCD or Video Card (I have the Saphhire 9800Pro that I flashed to 9800XT). I uninstalled my ATI driver (the clean way) and I uninstalled my DVD software (Cyberlink PowerDVD) and reinstalled them both but no dice...same issue...any suggestions?

Try unistalling the monitor driver and let it be plug and play.

That is really odd that you can not run it on Windows 2000 Pro, i own 4x20'' viewsonic's widescreens LCD and all them run on Windows 2000 Pro service pack 4 even XP PRO service pack 2 and Vista Ultimate, and all my LCD's run at 1650x1050 the only diference for me i do not have a dual OS on ether of my machines i only run one OS by itself.

As for it locking up i would have to say it is not the LCD doing that but more of a video issue or software problem causing it to lock up, I am also using Cyberlink Deluxe to play dvd's.

Now you said you uninstalled the drivers for you video card our you using the up to date one from ATI website or the one that came with your video card on the disc.

This should be the right driver you need direct from ATI website 6.2 version for Windows 2000 pro. link

Hope this helps you out it is worth giving it a try making sure you have the right drivers.
