| Yeap thats right, You can get Cheap LEDs at Target. We had one of their stores open up recently, When I first walked in the store there was the Dollar Aile, and next to it was the "2 for 5 Bucks Aile". Well Something caught my eye while browsing.. LED Christmas Lights for 2.50. You get 20 Lights (.13 Per LED). The colors Include Blue, Green Yellow, Yellow and Red. They even come with Resistors and free AA Batteries! Mine had 5 Blue LEDs, however, these arent like Dark Blue LEDs, rather they are a Light Blue LED. It also had 5 Reds, 5 Yellows and 5 Green-Yellow. Not a bad deal either. The name of the box is Mini Trees Light Set (5.2 Ft). Its in a Blueish Box. Good Luck Hunting! I think I might Mod these to "real" christmas lights (You know, Flashing, and Dim kinda thing). | ||

Ask and Ye shall recieve. I dont have photo shop onm this comp, so I'll just have to Link.. http://overclocked2300.googlepages.com/S5030279.JPG http://overclocked2300.googlepages.com/S5030290.JPG http://overclocked2300.googlepages.com/S5030291.JPG They arent that bright as you see, Thats probably because they are powered by 4.5V (3*1.5V). They should be brighter with a 9V (they have a current limiting resistor, So they should be OK) Last edited by Nerdz; 25-November-06 at 10:47 PM..

| I got a packet of this today (reduced to 1.25 on closeout!)-- an all white sort-- and it was strange, I noticed a disclaimer on the box-- "Handling the covered wire may expose you to lead" or something similar.. I thought you wrapped the leads of soldered wire so, aside from insulation, the lead in the solder wouldn't transfer when you picked it up. Am I just parsing the statement wrong (and the disclaimer is meaning if you peel the cover off the wire, there's lead), or are they saying it's got lead in the wire coating/heatsirink/insulation itself? | ||

The solder has lead in it. You got all white LEDs? If you did, thats bitchin, Thats a good cheap price for white leds

| Yes, I'm aware solder has lead in it... it's just the way I parse the disclaimer, it seems to suggest you could come in contact with lead just by touching the insulated and in some areas heatshrinked-over wires. The one in the Mesa-Gilbert-Higley area, by the new loop 202, had a bunch of boxes; I'd kept my eye out in the other Targets I'd went to, but none at all. They're super-bright with the stock 4.5v setup; I'm not convinced there's a dropping resistor in it at all. | ||

There is. Each LED has a Resistor on it. The batteries dont last long either Maybe a couple hours Tops. There are other ways to make it last longer, Increase the battery to 9V, Solder 2 LEDs in series with 1 Resistor per pair, Or use a constant Current source (ie with transistors or mosfets..).
