| Ok. What started all of this was, in fact, my fault. I will admit to that. When Thasher posted the $20 google rebate I thought... cool, I can upgrade to SATA drives for cheap. What I didn't do was read the post very carefully, which is why I edited it to make the "using two purchases" bold. So after I realized that mistake, I figured I'd check out the reviews of people on Newegg on the drives offered... and the one I originally purchased wasn't well liked. So since I've had good luck with WD drives, I figured I'd pay attention this time and order the drives separately and cancel the original order... which is where the fun begins. According to the Buy.com website (which I only found out AFTER I wanted to cancel my original order)
That's right everybody... you have 15 minutes to cancel an order. Me... I took an hour. So despite the fact that I placed my original order at 7:45 AM Eastern (4:45 Pacific) and put in my "request for cancellation" at 8:45 Eastern (5:45 Pacific), the order was shipped AFTER THEY SHIPPED MY REPLACEMENT ORDER... DESPITE EMAILS TO TELL THEM NOT TO. What part of "The customer is always right" don't they understand? So why would they do this? Because this way they get to deposit my purchase money for 7-10 business days while my product ships BEFORE I CAN REFUSE IT. The line about processing payment and cancellations is utter BS. Why? Because they processed the order using the SAME METHOD OF PAYMENT. It didn't take them 24 hrs to process the purchase, just the "request for cancellation" No other online store I have EVER purchased from has ever had this "problem". Bunch of freaking unethical weasles. I will not purchase from them again. Buy from NEWEGG.COM or any of the fine sponsors of PCAPEX! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Ugh.. I just got owned by them too. I ordered a headset, well I get an email saying I must have entered some of my mom's credit card information wrong. I change it and it didn't say anything about it trying to charge the card with the new information so I figured I should order it agian. I wake up this morning with 2 emails confirming my order... wtf. So I try to cancel one but it says it's already in the shipping process. Now I hae to wait for both the orders to get here and then send one back. | ||

| To give a final update on the saga that is my Buy.com experience... My returned drives were received at their warehouse on Dec. 4th around 11 am. Being the nice guy that I am, I didn't hassle them for MY MONEY BACK for a week, when I started another round of emails to their "customer service" department. After no respose from repeated emails, I googled "Buy.com customer service phone number" (which is about the only way to get it short of their providing it to you - (877)-780-2464) and called them on Tuesday, the 12th. While waiting on hold for 15-30 minutes, the phone hung up on me. I called back to hear repeated busy signals. Eventually I got through again (and waited another 30 minutes). The nice Indian gentleman I talked to then proceeded to tell me he didn't have any information on why I haven't received my money back, but he would process a credit authorization which would take 3 to 5 business days. At this point I didn't have anything further to say to him and hung up. Needless to say, I was not satisfied with this responce, so I called again an hour or so later (to wait and hear hold music) so I could talk to a supervisor. This Indian gentleman said that he did see that a credit authorization was processed and approved, and that I should see my funds with 24 to 48 hours. They showed up 48 hours later. So to recap, I "requested" my order to be cancelled on the 22nd of November (my account had alread been charged at this point), I refused the shipment on the 24th, the package was returned on the 4th, and credit was issued on the 14th. They held my funds hostage for 22 days. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and while doing so, I checked Buy.com's rating - BBB, which is: "A very high rating. A company with this rating would not have a significant number of complaints or other considerations that could pose a problem to consumers." Also:
If receiving 32 complaints per month to the Bureau is expected, imagine how many unreported complaints there are... by comparison, Newegg's rating is AA and received 11 complaints per month. I will NEVER buy anything at Buy.com again and caution anyone else from using them. My experience is NOT unique... see Link or Link or the many many other fine listings provided by the Google.
