LANGLEY, Washington (AP) -- An amusement park operator was killed Saturday when his hair got caught on a roller coaster car, pulling him up as high as 40 feet before he fell, back-first, onto a fence.

Doug McKay, 40, was spraying lubricant on the tracks of the Super Loop 2, a ride at the Island County Fair on Whidbey Island, when his long hair got caught on a car full of fairgoers, sheriff's spokeswoman Jan Smith said.

"It basically scalped him, and he fell and landed on the fence," Smith said.

McKay, co-owner of Paradise Amusements, based in Post Falls, Idaho, was pulled between 25 and 40 feet into the air.

Paradise Amusements had set up rides at the Island County Fair, located about 30 miles northwest of Seattle, for the past three years, Smith said.

Smith said grief counselors were on hand but that the fair continued after the incident.

Thats an ugly way to go.

Yup. I heard he had a mullet, and the counslers wern't much help, as they were laughing at it.

It hurts just to think of getting killed like that...

My favorite part is how they didnt shut down the rides. Could you get a counselor to go with you?

How close was this guy standing to the tracks?? He either had REALLY long hair or he was entirely too close. Personally I would back off if I saw that the ride was coming my way.

So I guess the lady in the elevator was stuck in there for 15-20 minutes with just a head looking at her. That has got to be freaky!!

Actually his family said that his arm may have gotten caught, but they're still trying to find out exactly how it happened. Whatever they find out, though, 1 thing is for certain: The guy died due to his own stupidity. He was way to close to a moving amusement park ride than he should have been and now everyone will laugh at his dumbass. Just like the guuy who died by getting covered in elephant ****. How stupid can people be?

Oh man, that had to hurt like none other, having 150+ pounds ripping your hair out, not to mention the fall. Oh, man, ouch.
