Default 500mhz Preloaded Linux Computer--$74.99

Link

Quote:
This machine isn't called the Sub-100 for nothing. We believe that this $74.99 shipped (US only) PC is the best value around for the budget shopper. While similar units sell for upwards of $300 new, these computers are used (but guaranteed working with an included warranty) with only minor blemishes, if any. These computers often sell elsewhere with only 64MB. All of ours come with 128MB RAM to maximize its worth even more. And of course, you even get a distribution of your choice installed on it. Ubuntu will be installed by default if not notified.
This light, portable & compact machine is a perfect choice for both the entry level consumer and more advanced users planning on building a home network or firewall. It sports a surprising 6 USB ports (2 front/4 back) - which make it a great candidate for an assortment of external upgrades, and 128MB (upgradable to 512MB) memory to power your most intensive applications such as OpenOffice.org. There are no internal PCI or ISA slots on-board.
Embedded systems are quickly becoming mainstream. With it's tiny form factor, the Sub-100 is perfect for the home multimedia center, general purpose server, router & firewall, or any other purpose you can think of. Use it to protect your network from the outside world and perhaps host a web page, house your networks files, and play your favorite music; all for about the cost of a hardware router.
You pick any distribution from our site and we'll install it for you. See below for details on the default partitioning scheme less you don't provide us one.

Looks perfect for F@H.

$75 seems expensive for a machine like that.

Why not just find someone who has one laying around?

Not bad if you really need a cheap computer I guess.

EDIT- free shipping makes it a much better deal.

Geez, I've got some 700 and 800MHz systems in the Trading Post for $30. You'd have to put your own version of Linux (or whatever) on it, but wouldn't you want to anyway?

Well.... it is a cool gimmick. For $75 shipped, you get a fully functional, OS installed system in a SFF PC. That machine is well suited for a firewall, router, proxy server.... you name it.

If I were a novice, and I didn't care what OS I was gonna learn on... I'd consider this deal.

I would think not... have you priced ITX boards lately? They're twice as expensive as MicroATX boards running the same chipsets. I'm thinking they're MicroATX in a slim case, for that price. Not flaming, I just don't think ITX boards are that cheap cause I've been shopping for them everywhere. This is a fantastic deal.

Oh yeah... and Linux PWNS j00!!! ROTFL

I know you mean well, but you'd be dissapointed with a 500Mhz folding machine.
I laid my P3 500's and 700's to rest ,cause its just not worth the electricity Vs points output.

Nice find though for a "new" file server type system!!!

In peace, nothing so becomes a man as modesty and humility, but when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with rage and lend the eye a terrible aspect.
