Default Too Good to Be True?

Something doesn't look right about that watercooling.

Can anyone comment on such a cheap watercooling setup? If its decent, I might replace my Dell heatsink with it.

It seems to be made by a company called G-Cooler. I believe the cooler is compatible with Socket 478 and some AMD K8 socket (a name for the item I found had "LGA478K8" in front of it.
EDIT- I found some more information.

I found some more information on the product!

And not only that, but I found a review for it!

One of their more expensive water coolers was reviewed below. It's only $43! To sum the review up, the reviewer was too scared to put the cooler in his main PC , the cooler was so cheap it looked homemade, and it provided performance similar to a stock CPU cooler and was noisy.

Think so.... i'm still a beginner at watercooling but I do remember my 'physics lessons... no way that there
is enough dissapating surface let alone enough water volume in this setup...

Hmmm... yeah - looks a bit iffy to me.

With no mention of CPU support or any info about that pump, rad block or coolant used - I'd be wary of it's performance (see coolermaster aquagate or any other all-in-one kit performance data)

Still, at that price, I'd probably get one just to have a play with

I wouldn't trust my rig with a $19 heatsink, let alone a $19 watercooling setup.

Question Re: Too Good to Be True?

No Coolant Requires

What the heck do they mean by that.

Also if you look closely at the pic below both fans look like they plug in to the motherboard headers is that even safe?

The 3pin connectors are all good - the CPU header will actually be good for the pump - so you'll know when *Cough* I mean if the pump fails.
hahaha - no coolant requires = "loop prefilleds and readys for useages immediate."

I'm actually a little concerned about the coolant used - I wonder if there are different metals in the loop and whether there is a corrosion inhibitor used (usually it's a selling point)
With the tubes being black - you won't notice if any galvanic corrosion (or algae) is building up until it's too late

It looks like someone tried to build one of those CoolerMaster Aquagates (which apparently get decent reviews) at home with spare parts. The waterblock looks much smaller (but the CM product has the pump sheathed inside the block) and the radiator looks like 80mm, not 120.

I'd guess from the arrangement of mounting holes it might be designed for 478/939 or possibly LGA755/939.

I'd try it if I had a sacrificial-lamb rig, honestly.

I highly recomend Danger Den stuff. A few years ago, as a total noob, I decided to watercool my gaming rig. I got a kit from DD, had a problem, and sent them an email. I got a phone call from them the next day, and the problem was resolved!

All my computers and borgs are on air now, but if I decide to water cool another one, everyone should do it at least once, I will order from DD.

Just my .02 cents worth.
