Toshiba is a good brand also, and isnt the "2x" speed indicative of the record speed relative to normal play speed? So a 2 hour DVD would burn in 1 hour? Is that right? Seems pretty good for DVD copying.

I don't know if that's a real good deal or not.

I mean, yes the price is low, but is it worth the wait? How slow is it? Is there any kind of timetable for how fast it could write in real time?

hell no, you can't really burn a movie onto them due to their size. Sure you can do a doulbe sided one, but that's a pain to have to flip it in the middle of the movie. Not to mention price per blank isn't low enough to really make it worth the effort.

EDIT: Of course I'm referring to copying Movies that you already own, and only for your own purposes at home. Such as keeping your original dvd from getting scratched up.

ARGH

The main reason I'd consider getting a DVD writer is for backing up my data.

I wonder though, is there a way to condense a muti-CD program into one DVD? For instance, in a game like Neverwinter Night where there are mutiple game CD's condensed into one DVD instead?
