128x64 Graphic Serial LCDs $34.99

I found this place that has 128x64 graphic SERIAL LCDs for $34.99 + $6.50 shipping

They also have some cool 4 channel remotes, serial converter for LCD for $6.90, and other LCDs and stuff for them.

It looks like a flat rate of $6.50 shipping, I added 12 items and it was still $6.50.

They are in Hong Kong, but they have 100% feedback on Ebay and everyone says "Quick Ship" so it might be worth our wild. Heres the link.

Wait so the LCD with a $6 cable would make it standalone? or do you still need a controller chip of some sort?

Will the guide and software work for graphic, i.e. higher resolution, displays?

Actually the guide will not work for the graphic LCD but will for charachter LCD with the HD44780 or equvalent controller,which 8 out of 10 have. The ones on that site are compatible. The graphic LCD can be use in parallel or serial mode. I have a graphic VFD (128x32) with the same (compatible) controller as this that works with most apps in parallel but not in serial mode. LCDinfo works in both modes. That just means you may have to use a larger cable and solder more connections depending on the app you use.

EDIT: MDK, no extra chip is needed, just a cable and a pot for contrast control.

Either a parallel printer cable hacked off or a serial cable, it depends on which you want to use. I just looked over the data sheet for the graphic module and you DO NOT need a pot, it seems the contrats is automatically set a 1 setting, which should be fine.
