| Apex Tech Fanatic Supreme | Now that gaming is firmly moving on to greener pastures (HD gaming that is ), we as gamers have come to a point where we have to buy more expensive cabling for our hobby. Whether it be video, audio, or network cable...they can get pricey. So, I'm here to help .Rule 1) DO NOT BUY FROM BRICK AND MORTAR STORES!! Ala, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.. They overprice their merchandise tremendously. Rule 2) DO NOT BELIEVE IN MONSTER CABLES!! - Monster Cables are a placebo effect. Especially when you are talking about digital cables (HDMI, DVI, Optical audio). Digital is digital. Unless you're covering a 'vast' distance, like more than 15 feet, to connect your devices, Monster Cables will yield you no improved benefits. Rule 3) BUY ONLINE! Compare the prices, the best place I've found online is Monoprice. Want a 6ft HDMI cable for that spanking new HDTV? Don't want to spend the roughly NINETY-NINE DOLLARS or MORE for Monster Cables (199.99 for 16ft..). A 6ft cable at Monoprice will cost you only 17 dollars. Remember, be smart, be savvy, and pay less ![]() The only disadvantage of buying online is that you have to 'plan ahead' since the cable has to be shipped to you. BTW, shipping is roughly 3-5 dollars. Or, how about you want to re-network your house with newer ethernet cable, but you can't fathom spending almost 50 bucks for cable at the store... get a 100ft Cat6 cable for...11.55 |

| Apex Advanced Techie | This is some very useful advice. Seriously, Best Buy and stores like that are a ripoff when it comes to the required " accessory" cables that often don't come packaged with an electronic product (printers hardly ever come with a USB/Parallel cable anymore). |
