Default Apple drops the price of the "revolutionary" iPhone if anyone cares

The 8gig iPhone has been marked down by $200. It is now only $399 and the 4gig iPhone which was originally $399 has now been phased out.

For those who care, the old 4 GB Iphone is also still available from Apple Outlet for $299 while supplies last. A refurb 8 GB is also available for $349! I'm really tempted to go get one!

lol oh well, still too expensive...I'm guessing Apple didnt sell half as many as they wanted if they are already marking down the items.

Yea thats the reason. the fanboys, and early adopters came through on opening, but shortly after sales dropped to a almost halt. they are just too expensive.

One million fans isn't saying much for a company the size of apple. I guess most people are happy with a phone being a phone.

Convergence of these kind of devices is often doomed to failure. Look at the Nokia NGage.

My favourite part:

If you were one of the morons who shelled out $599 for the original 8GB phone, then Apple will give you a $100 credit to spend on accessories. (even tho all 'late adopters' are benefiting from a $200 price drop...) That lessens the reaming up the arse a little bit...

That's the only refund their offering....
Quote:
Cupertino, CA – Early adopters of the iPhone weren't the only ones receiving in-store credit from Steve Jobs. In an overlooked announcement, Jobs said that early adopters of the Apple Lisa would be receiving a $7000 in-store credit.
Apple released the Lisa in January of 1983 for $9,995, and the similar Macintosh was released a year later for $2,495.
"I've felt bad about people who bought the Lisa for a long time. Anybody who bought one of the first Apple Lisas really got screwed," said Jobs. "Now that we've got some cash, I think it's about time we made it right."
