Alright all you pimptastic deal finders, here's a challenge for you. I'm in the middle of designing my upcoming network project for the house that I'm closing on in about 2 weeks. I have my wire layout all setup and ready. Wire spools are loaded, locked, laced and ready to go. New Cisco Router and Switches will be arriving any day now. Patch panel loaded with RJ45 Keystone jacks. New blade in the punchdown.

But there's one finishing touch that I just can't seem to get under control... a 19" rack to mount the hardware to. All the ones I've been able to find right now are multiple hundreds of dollars, pick-up or personal freight only, or so flimsy it will break if I breath on it.

What I'm looking for is simple... a 19" rack that stands can support 4U - 8U (can go a bit bigger, but don't really need to) for a decent price with shipping that doesn't require putting up my first born and left arm as collateral.

My metalworking skills aren't good enough to take a chance of smashing up my Cisco gear... already gave that one a thought and should have mentioned it in the original post.

What is your deepest component's length?
Open rack/closed rack?

Will look over these links as soon as I get to the house (at work right now). The components that I'm installing are a Cisco 2501 Router and 2 Cisco 1924a Switches. Closed racks are nice, but typically way more expensive than the open racks. So I don't mind the racks being open. I had considered the DJ racks, but wasn't sure if they would hold the weight of the equipment.


Edit: Just looked over the links.. I'm on a bit of a budget here. Any chance for knowing of anything like these for $70 or less (including shipping if at all possible)

Not off hand, cheapest I have seen for more than a 4U is $99.
If you could live with a 4u (and thus no room for expansion), then you might find one as low as 69-79 bucks.

You might consider getting a used one. Check Craigslist or the like. Every day or two someone puts up a rack, usually not too expensive; worst case, spend $25 and hire a truck for the day to cart it where you want it.

Just thought I would let you all know what I found. I located a 12U rack for $30 inc shipping on eBay. The same stand can be located here.
