Talking Superbowl + Good Food = Good Times!

One of the few things I've learned from attending and throwing superbowl parties (or any football party for that matter), is that good food stands right next to good company. And even though the two go hand in hand, it's still somewhat possible to enjoy good food while with not so good company. No matter who you're with or the situation you got yourself into, good food helps bring people together and can liven things up!

So with that being said, I started the hunt for this years superbowl menu. Hotdogs, hamburgers, sausages, shrimp, various snacks...all been done. Even though some of the party staples (mainly beer lol) will still be included, I wanted to try and find some different ideas to change the pace up a bit.

...and then I came across this little guide on msn:

Quote:
Classic Game Day Party Menu

Quote:
Start pre-game festivities with everyone's faves -- potato skins and wings. Then hunker down for hearty Cheese Steak Sandwiches, a Bacon-Cheeseburger Pizza, or Pork and Slaw Barbecue Sandwiches. Wash it all down with a refreshing brew or two, then wrap up the post-game festivities with chocolate-covered Peanut Butter Munchies.

The rest of the article can be right here

I'm getting hungry just reading the article. Some of these suggestions may be a lil much, or a lil elaborate for a superbowl party, but they're definitely interesting and puts a nice twist on things. One thing that tends to pop it's head up in every "must have party food" lists: buffalo wings. Seems like you can't have enough of'em. Yeah, they're a mess, but damn are they good!

So this year, try to shake up the party menu a bit. Wether you're hosting or attending, bringing in something other than Devil's eggs or macaroni salad is gauranteed to please the crowd. Plus, you don't want to be the guy who "always brings the chips and dip".

I always cook up a batch of my Sweet N Sour Meatballs

Fry up some small meatballs (Vegi or meat) and then in a crockpot do equal amounts of Heintz Chili Sauce and Grape Jelly.

Dump in the meatballs and cook for about 3 hours.....

Hummmm, Hummmm, Hummmmm

Its only a globally broadcast sporting event that captures the attention of more people at one time throughout the world more than anything else including soccer.
Last year I was watching it on like 5 diff channels of SKY tv in Europe.

Of course but for a single event it does not draw near the audience watching it.

You seriously underestimate the following soccer has across the globe, good sir.

I think the last world cup actually drew about 11 times as many viewers as the superbowl (over a billion people). The popularity difference between the two sports isn't even close gloablly.

I think you're quoting 2002 numbers because they match your claim and I can't find any more recent. That said - the ratio should be about the same still. I hate the Super Bowl, I'm all about the World Cup though.

Let's not forget football actually means football(soccer for you silly North Americans). And both are horribly boring IMO.

Edit: football is played in nearly all countries around the globe, while american football is played in how many, that is at a professional level?

Soccer means Soccer. Football means the NFL and the NCAA. GO GATORS :-)
I like any food that comes off a Grill for Football. Include a Huge Veggie Platter
and Ranch Dressing and I'm ready for the Keg :-)
