Yep... I've been doing a little freelance work and selling off some of my older parts (keeping me in coffee... well, caffeine in general). It's always fun (and by "fun" I mean sheer, freakin' agony) working with n00bs, or worse, n00bs who think they know somethin'...

TOP TEN DUMB THINGS N00BS SAY:

1. I didn't know that. (well duh... You're a N00b!)

2. Oh! I saw them do that on Tech TV... is that where you learned that? (No... I read something called "Manuals" and "Books")

3. I knew that, but I guess I just didn't remember right now. (You bet...)

4. Did you take a class to learn how to do that? Or is it something you just pick up? (I just wing it as I go... I like watching the pretty colors on the screen)

(add two more "Dumb N00b" points after you've already explained you're certified)

5. I could probably fix it myself, but I figured it would be faster to call you... (yeah, three years of "Uhh, maybe I'll try this button" would probably suck).

6. I'm pretty good with computers... I just got stuck. (I guess "Press any key" can get confusing).

7. Yeah, I built my last computer. It may not be as fast as I'd like, but I feel a little pride every time I use it...

(Next time, try an AGP video card, stop trying to pry open a FireWire port for your USB devices and it's slow because you obviously can't understand the reason why someone might need more than 64 megs of RAM)

8. I'm really good with computers. I don't mean to brag, but I've got AOL! They're the best! I also have a 56 Meg modem, and Bob's brand Memory in my E-Machine!

(Yeah, I'm impressed... mostly from the fact you've managed to live this long without sticking your tongue in an electrical device)

9. I don't know anything about computers! They're for social rejects anyway!

(Translation, you couldn't find the "On" button)

10. I LOVE my Macintosh because it's SO much better than PCs. I don't have to worry about compatability issues, I have a sexy case right off the get-go... I don't understand why EVERYONE doesn't use a Mac!

(Let me give you a hint... Some of us LIKE being able to use 90% of the software available, some of us like being able to build our rigs from the mobo up and some of us even like being able to upgrade things like power supplies without having to shop club Mac... Oh, and the new G5 tower isn't as cool looking as the G4. Deal with it.)

That would be the highlight of my day right there, no sense in quoting everyone of them was great

It still irks me when people call their tower case a "cpu" or "harddrive"

I'm still a n00b to the forums... but I am no n00b to the computer world. I was a computer tech for about 5 years at this company that had a location down in NYC right across from the Empire State Building.

Anyway... I was setting up this computer for this elderly lady so that she could do some data entry for the company. So I put the TOWER on the desk... and she goes to me... "IS THAT THE PRINTA?" In her little New York accent!!! I was sort of in a mood that day and I go... "YUP! It's a LASER!! Lightning fast!" Then I ran into the back room where the server was and started BALLIN!! I couldn't stop laughing!!

Well i know this is an old post but i'm a Forum Noob so i'll give a little feedback.

I've had better luck teaching 6 year old about PC's than most adults.. Last weekend my roomie & i went to his moms to swap some data over from her old PC to her new one. One of his nices kept calling the monitor a computer so we stared to teach her that the computer is the big box with all the gizmoz.. she comes out with "Well i still don't understand" my reply to her was well "most adults your mommies age don't understand either."
