Lightbulb We are getting a pool...

Won't go too much into detail, but after a lengthy discussion, my family decided to pitch in and get a pool at my parents house.

Even though the decision making processes was hell, the fiasco didn't really start until the installation process started...or should I say...before it started.

The excavation company was supposed to come out on Weds and dig the area where the pool was going to be installed, so my sister took off of work that day to be here...which is all fine. Except that they were supposed to be here at 12, called her and said they couldn't make it till 4, then called and said they would be here after 6pm. And guess what....no show.

So on Thurs the pool installation company arrives and the grass is still green and no area was dug...well finally I guess they got everything straightened out and an excavation company was at the house by 6ish doing their thing. Pool installation company was there as well, the hole was finally dug....and then the rain started coming down along with some lightning lol!

Pool installation company had to come back today....but before they came over, torrential rain again lol. So the forcast "should" be clear tonight into tomorrow, and hopefully they can start building this damn thing. Actually, if they would have arrived at their "Scheduled Time" they could have had everything installed. But of course they showed up 3 hours after they were supposed to be here.

Talk about a PITA. Had to reschedule the electrician too, he was supposed to do his work on Thurs, but since there is no pool he can't do his work. Guess that'll have to wait for this weekend or next week.

So just wanted to take some time to vent a lil bit Please feel free to share your pool horror stories/experiences or any tips you have lol.

Well i am glad to see you getting a new pool, but that will be just half your headaches wait to see what it takes to keep it maintained , i have a inground pool myself and the maintenance itself is a pain in the butt along with the Hot tub too the cost of keeping the pool and the Hot tub can get really expensive if you know what i mean, but i love them both we keep the Hot tub open year round. Good luck to you on your new pool.

Thanks man! Yeah that was one of the topics I brought up when we were discussing the pool. I made it very clear that I do not want to be the only one in charge of maintaining and cleaning the pool....esp since it's mainly for my 3 nephews. So my 2 brother in laws stepped right up and said they'll help as well. The gf said she'll help too but she still won't help me with the rest of the yard work

It's a never ending fight lol.

Unfortunately they didn't budge lol

Well here is a picture of the beast! Turned out pretty nicely, and the nightlight in the pool is awesome

Very nice Ranger!

As far as the deck for the pool, I'm sure it's definitely a possibility for the future. This is at my parents house, so right now, they're happy with it and it's just enough for my nephews and the rest of the family to enjoy.

We definitely put that thing to good use over the weekend. I heard they were all in there the entire weekend, and when I came back from a weekend trip me and the gf stopped over and enjoyed it too.

The funniest thing is the kids porta potty in the shed lol!

Ya i bet that was a funny seeing that in the shed, i know the feeling we have few children that are not so lucky to have a pool next door, but is always nice to share it with the unfortunate ones and just plain have a blast with them. It is just amazing how fast these children can swim reminds me of the good old days not to say that i am old just don't have adrenalin like the little ones have.

This reminds me of a radio station joke that was played in 2 different scenarios in my hometown, Edmonton, Canada.

The radio station DJ called the wife of someone who was building a pool in their yard (and wanted to play a joke on his wife) saying that they unearthed a dead body...you can imagine the fun that occurred on the phone after that!

The second version was they called a man who was having a pool put in his yard, saying they found an old wooden chest that had a bunch of rare pure gold Spanish dubloons in it, and they said they figured they (the excavation team) had the rights to it because they were being paid to work there, and you should have heard that guy go ballistic on the phone, saying it was *his* property, before the DJ let him off the hook by saying the truth...

Gawd I love practical jokes like that!
