Cool Mutant super powers

After having just seen the latest X-Men movie (BTW... loved it) my wife and I were talking.

Well, it was more her asking me questions about the X-Men and me answering them.

She reached the conclusion that the evil mutant powers are "cooler" than the mutant powers that the X-Men have.

Her examples: It's much cooler to blast through a wall (Juggernaut - not a mutant, but different topic) as opposed to walking through them (Kitty), cooler to be able to morph yourself (Mystique) than to have telekenetic powers (Jean), cooler to control all metal (Magneto) than to have telekenetic powers (Prof. X), and is Angel going to do anything but fly around...

So to all you geeks out there (99% of forum members... don't try to deny it), what is your favorite mutant, their powers, and why are they cooler than the others.

Personally, as much as I like Wolverine's character, I would have to choose Colossus.

A. Strength is amazing.
B. Ability to turn into steel form is sweet.
C. Unlike Wolvie, Magneto can only get to him when in altered state.

... and as a sidebar, which mutants would you like to see in the next movie?

Wolvie is my personal fav since he's really the only anti-hero in x-men. But yes your wife does have a point, most of the bad guys have more cool super-powers than the good guys.

But I would like to see Gambit make an appearance.

I always liked the Beast because he picked things up with his feet a lot.

During the big mutant battle at the end I kind of wondered what all the bad mutants powers were, because they were getting their asses kicked by the x-men. Was it just that they could jump really high? Perhaps they could change the color of their shirt at will. Or the human remote could change the channel on any TV with his mind. Or cause everybody's alarm clocks to ring at will

I'll second Remy (Gambit) if for no other reason than that he's Cajun.... I think Harry Connick Jr. would portray an excellent Gambit.

Does Apocalypse count?

Ehhh, I've always loved Colossus. I've always debated if Colossus can take on Juggernaut.

Actually my favorite mutant has always been Mr. Sinister.

Yep I'll jump on that Gambit bandwagon....although I'm not sure about Harry Connick Jr. doing the role...but can't think of anyone else off the top of my head...maybe a Collin Farrel type of person...

I like the X- Men movies not sure of all the characters that play in the X-Men comics, but i can think of a couple actors that could probably play a good role to a mutant such as Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman they both played in Underworld and what about the Rock the wrestler he played good actor in Doom even Hunter Hurst Hemsley also known as HHH the wrestler, i would think all these actors would all play a good role as a mutant.

well its not that the evil mutant powers are cooler; its that the good ones have more restraint. i'm sure collosus would be able to smash through a wall as well. While Magneto can control all powers, Prof. X can pretty much move anything.

We can see the difference between the restraint that the good ones have compared to the evil with Jean Grey. With Jean Grey, she had her own self restraint plus some restraint imposed by the Professor but when the Phoenix woke, she pretty much had ultimate power. Jean had the same potential power but restrained it.

You also have to remember that the X Men have had combat training and teamwork practices while the bad guys didn't. They were just a conglomerate gathered by Magneto to be cannon fodder.

My big question after seeing the movie was, "Where's Gambit?" He's always been one of my more favorite characters.

Professor X can't move anything. He can just do alot of mental stuff, but can't move stuff like how Gene does.

That still doesn't excuse the fact that Magneto's mutants ran in attacking the X-Men with their fists and legs. There were like 80 mutants attacking the X-Men and none of them used their powers, except for Calypso and like 2 other mutants. WTF Magneto's mutants were punching and kicking the X-Men, while Wolverine was raping them all with his claws...

My big question is where the hell did Nightcrawler go?

Also one last thing. Who was Spike in the movie?
Was he the Chinese dude who had spikes come from his face or was Spike the guy who was attacking and throwing spikes at Wolverine in the forest...
I'm thinking Spike is the guy in the forest who attacked Wolvering with his spikes, but my friends are telling me that Spike was the guy who had spikes come out from his face...
Who was Spike?

Magneto is pretty bad ass... In the comics (proud old-school comic geek) back in the day Magneto was so bad ass that he could literally rip all of the metal based minerals out of a person's body which killed them... this meant iron, zinc, etc... In case ya didn't know, your blood needs iron to transport oxygen.

In that light Magneto SHOULD be unstoppable when thinking about all the other craziness he can do.

That's what he did in X2. Mystic injected iron into one of the gaurds and Magneto kills that gaurd and escapes.

But in the comics, he was able to do that without extra injections.

Gotta remember something, the X-Men and the (for lack of a better term) important Followers of Magneto are all mutants with obvious mutant powers that are quite off the scale. If you remember in the second movie, Prof X says "These are all the non-mutants" (flash of blue inside Cerebro), and these are all the mutants (flash of red inside of Cerebro). There were just about as many mutants as there were non-mutants. Wolvie/Jean/Storm/Prof X/etc... have obvious powers that can impact many. What about the mutant boy w/two tongues, one who can turn his urine different colors, one who doesn't have to sleep, one who's mutant power is invulnerability to ultraviolet radiation -- can never sunburn -- nor tan. Perhaps there is a mutant out there who's power is to make their crap smell like roses. I dunno, but the 'evil' mutants may not all have combat related powers, ergo, fists/kicking/broken beer bottles/etc might be their only way of fighting.
