... folks this may suprise you, but I've got an addiction outside of modding. *waits for the crys of foul to subside* I'm going to admit my 2nd worst addiction, and it all started in Oregon. I was alone, tired (yet loaded up on Bawls just the same), half way drunk, and ready to game... so I went to a PDXLAN. I'm now already planned to attend another PDXLAN, but this addiction is worse than crack folks - I need a bigger rush. So how does one go larger than a 500 person lan? MML with 1,000 or so folks? Nope still not enough - I'm thinking about going to the world's 2nd largest gathering of geeks. That's right, Norway's famed The Gathering... 5,000 folks.

No, it's not just wanting to compare Alaskan and Canadian moose to Norwegian moose. Also I assure you it has nothing to do with the underground pr0n market in Oslo (although why some call it underground is beyond me.) I just want to broaden my horizons. Some folks go to Europe to go hiking, expand their understanding of foreign nations, view museums and other such things. Pfft, screw that, I just want to game in the three major LAN partys in Scandenavia.

It's common knowledge I'm deranged, and a techno-phile to the highest degree, so it is that odd of a desire?

Okay my European friends in the know, some may wonder why I'd choose The Gathering over DreamHack - first The Gathering 2007 is first off in 2007 which will give me enough time to secure the funds, second I know someone that used to be part of the set-up krew and if I twist her arm I can get her to go again so I at lest know one person there.

But DreamHack would be cooler in regards to having an Absolut Vodka cooled PC... but I'm getting side tracked there.

So in closing folks - if you haven't gotten into the LAN subculture, and have an obsessive compulsive personality like mine - don't ever go to a LAN. It's far more costly than modding I think.

But it makes all the modding even more worth while.

I am also addicted to lans but in a worse state than you. My addiction is stifled by myu parents who strangly refuse to drive me to norway.

This folks is Exhibit A as to why chunky doesn't go to LAN's. Chunky's family would not see chunky anymore....Chunky would be strung out on strict diet of Red Bull and Bawls and while that may reduce the chunkiness of chunky his kids would only know him as the strange man in basement....

I wish i could get into the LAN party groups, it would be great,

I say you start the first LAN world tour, and review each one and make t-shirts to sell for $20 with all the tour dates on the back, that would be awesome
