Default Who Is With Me?

I am going to come right out and say it.......I am bored. The brain is not clicking anymore, not much exciting is going on in my personal life or work either. It has all gone stale. When i say this I refer to pretty much everything.

I have been coming to PR/ PCApex for quit a while. I dont remember when I joined and to be honest to lazy to look it up. But anyway here is my rant.

What is going on here?

Summer is coming very soon and with it if you have been around a while alot of new members will be joining up. What is the impression we want to give here at our site? I mean a bunch of threads linking to other sites that have nothing to do with moddin or overclocking? Or even worse links to other sites that tell of overclocking adventures or modding. I think not.

It is time to step to the pump sit back think about what you excell at and start the adventure here at PCApex. We have lost some pretty heavy hitters here and it is time to step to the pump. Who is going to be the next overclocking guru here, who will be the next Wixx of the modding world. Both have come from this site. Who will be next another site or ours? From the trend I have been seeing we are not to high on that list and we as a whole need to buckle down. Start pushing the limits see what can or can not be done.

Yes I know it is expensive but there are ( and not bitching here ) alot of deals that get posted here. I thank everyone that does that because Uncle Sam just decided to slam me with student loan payments. But thats a whole other issue.

The fine print...These views are my own and has no reflection of other members orstaff , These are my own opnions and take full responsibly of what I wrote.

I concur with a lot of what you are saying and am already taking steps to rectify the situation... at least from my viewpoint. Keep your eyes peeled for updates to Project Animals.

You know I've had those same feelings for SO long now I've come to realize something. The door is revolving and it'll never end. Sometimes it spins a little faster or slower, but it keeps goin'.

i agree the action has dropped quite a bit in terms of exciting mods being done. with the absence of zen and projects getting finished its feels a little slow. i still think we have a lot of resources in terms of painting, cooling and OCing but not on the side of electronics past LEDs. i bet after the new AMD stuff comes to market this summer it will pick up.
I'm optimistic that when summer comes in a month it will bring new projects. i know that when i get back home i'll be setting up a mini mill (need to get all the tools for it) so I'm hoping more people will have similar exciting things to bring back to the community.

Yes i agree 99.9999999999999% on this one....the .0000000000001% isn't disagreement, that portion of my brain is crazy. I don't visit it that much...makes me go loco

But yeah, PCA/PR has been the proving grounds for many awesome people that are top dogs in what they do. Partially because of the great support we give one another. There is some great talent here in various aspects of the PC world, some of whom have left to attend to their personal lives and others for different reasons that don't need mentioning in my post. PCA has an image that has been etched in by GK, and enforced by the top dogs i referred to. MODDING, OVERCLOCKING & REVIEWS is what i think of when i hear the name pcApex or PimpRig, It has taken a lot of effort from our members to have successfully proven those titles time and time again.

its a new summer coming around the corner, with new products, new challenges and new talent that will be by this site. Lets show 2006 who rains supreme, give it your best

Carbon, Ive seen that mill at Cummings Tool sales. Is that where you got it from?

As for me, I do have plans, and the only thing holding me back is cash..(and warm weather)But I do have enough paint and sand paper for a mod...I just have to get motivated...lol..

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but $SOLID$ Necro, in a previous conversation, told me that he felt I would be the one to replace him as the OC'ing guru. Cpt Planet would have been "the One", but he got himself banned.

I'm working on setting up water-cooling, as well as phase-change cooling, setups in the future, so that I can get the other two awards (water and extreme cool) and maybe, just maybe, solidify myself as the OC guru.

Again, I don't want to toot my own horn...damn, i'm sounding conceited here...

Ator you were the guy I first thought of reading his article. So now I am tooting your horn as well.

Yeah, man... things come and go in waves. You'll see. We will be hopping with activity for a few months and them people chill for a while. It's a cycle and we are just in one of the lulls for now. It will be changing soon enough.

But I agree to a point. Like Godfoot, I have set things in motion that should prove to be interesting... Coelacanth knows about one of the projects. Fear not... we haven't been around this long by sitting on our laurels.

Heya Nerdz,

I peek in every now and then, just haven't had anything good to say since "Real life" has not been going all that well, it was effecting my ability to write.

I did build up 4 rigs in a 2 day thrash out of leftover parts last week, that was kinda fun
(I even resurrected my first PC, a K6-2 500/Voodoo 5 rig )

Oh, BTW... another "Toot" for Ator

No one seems to like my opinion but I think that we are in a slump after all of the stuff that has gone on here. I think pc apex is struggling to "find its place" just like you are saying. There are people here who excel in things (ator, grumb, ect) but it isnt well defined. When I joined there seemed to be a master for every category you have icons for, now it just seems like there the noobs, the somewhat new guys, the people like me, and the people who have been here for a long time. After some time things will go back and people will fall into these roles.

The problem is that getting insane overclocks now costs so much and you need to be a specialist in refrigeration or have access to liquid nitrogen. In the old days you could be an overclocking champ with a homemade WC system and posibly a low powered TEC.

The chips that get overclocked have changed aswell. In the past it was the celrons of the world achiving 250% overclocks so that they were faster than the highest end chips... kind of stticking it to the people who had wasted all that money on a high end chip. Now it's chips like high end opterons and Fx60's that are getting all the news.. already overpriced chips with overpriced cooling getting much lower percentage overclocks, I mean when was the lat time you saw an overclock of over 150%?

I also think AMD and intell have got wise to people overclocking low end chips to the speeds of high end ones (or have got VERY acurate in there speed binning). I say this because it's almost uncanny how almost all barton core cpus manufactured after a certian date can't get over about 210mhz fsb, they just hit a kind of virtual brick wall. Wheras if you look at the varience in the clock speeds people got out of there 300mhz celrons you will see some people only getting 450mhz and some getting upto 650mhz...

it's a conspiracy I tell ya
