I was listening/watching some leaked videos on Unreal Tourny 2007 and I heard a term that made me do a double take: grungification. It seems to make their alien/sci fi landscapes more realistic the implimented grungification to make the world seem more dirty and realistic. First off this is a major downer for me, because I was hoping in the future they'd get those darn robotic vacuums to work a lot better so it'd be a clean future... but I guess they disagree. Regardless of this heart wrenching moment, I also realized... why not take grungification to
PC modifications as well? After all - it's a fun word to say, so lets add it to the modder's dictionary.
Here are some of my ideas:
Hammer It FTW! Never use bondo again! Infact, buy a ball peen hammer, and go to town! Thought dremel work was cool? Wait til you see what I can do to a side panel of a Lian Li, that aluminum side panel will never look more grungified!
X-Grungification! Hey, some of us like taking our modding to the Xtreme. So instead of shooting HPs, Dells, and others and posting it, lets use our marksman skills for modding! Instead of cutting a window the shape of a circle - shoot a circle for a fancy outter rim and that uber-grungified look and feel. Don't forget to use warning sign paint to paint "Warning, sharp edges!" N00bies will be at high risk of getting injuried admiring our l33t grungified cases at LANs.
Die Grinder Havok! Cry havok and let loose the die grinders of hell! It doesn't matter how, just hit that case up and give it that really strong industrial work place accident look. Grind the corners randomly, maybe even go through the metal, it's all good.
Paint with Brushes & Leave the Runs! Folks - nothing seems more gritty and industrial to me than painting something up with warning yellow and letting some brush hairs stay in that paint. You want to show the world your case, show them your every brush stroke too! Wet sanding.. pfft!
I think you all see where I'm taking this vision. Yes folks - lets get ahead of the curve here, and go grungy! Grungification will become mainstream I'm sure after UT2k7 is released, so I figured I'd try to give you a heads up before the fad goes full swing.

PS - I'm filling in for Flounder, and I feel like I'm doing someone else's homework for them... kinda like in
HS.
