![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello and welcome to my final Daily Disturbance post! Next week, GrandpaNoob72 will be taking over the Monday spot. He's a great writer, folks. I'm sure that you'll enjoy his ramblings much more than you did mine. It's been a great time here in the DD section. I remembered when I first was approached by BigAkita. I had left on a Sunday for a training trip to D.C. and I must have gotten the PM about 1/2 hour after I left the house. Of course, in D.C. I didn't have access to the internet so come along about Wednesday, I got another PM from BigAkita asking if I was just ignoring him or whatnot. Thankfully, I had dropped a PM to godfoot letting him know that I was going to be out of town for the week and BigAkita got the message. Of course, when I got home, I was wonderfully surprised that I was asked to join the team. I remember my first ever DD post and I love to check back with it often. You can find it HERE. Back then, I was posting on two different days, Sundays and Mondays. If you remember, I was using my Sunday post as a "Beginner's Intro to Computing". I started off with the BASICS, then moved on to other parts of the computer. I learned quite a bit writing about the basics of a computer, much more than I thought I would have. Thankfully, it's something that's helped me over the past two years in figuring out this fanangled piece of technology on my desk. Over time, the DD staff changed somewhat giving me the relaxed position of just posting on Mondays. Next thing you know, Mr. Jonny English decided he needed to take some time away and I was asked to step up into the breech. How could I refuse? I was just hoping that I could at least give as much to the site as JE did. Things went smoothly for a while until I had the bonehead idea of going back to college at ITT Tech. Oh, the idea of going back to college wasn't a bad idea, just my choice of institutes. To swing it, I knew that I had to back off slightly from PimpRig and that meant that I couldn't keep a close eye on the DD section. What to do? IronSerif came to my rescue! Since then, IS has taken over the DD section with a passion, working on new ideas behind the scenes and providing you more than you could ever be aware of. He's kept the staff in line and was always quick to support his writers. True marks of a great leader, I always say. Then, just a few short months ago, I started to suffer what many of the DD writers in the past have suffered....burnout. I was getting to the point where I found it difficult to nail down a topic to write about. Happens to the best of us, and yes, me too. As a matter of fact, just a few short weeks ago I was wrestling with the decision on whether or not I should continue being a staff member at PCApex all together. After all, I'm getting into gaming now and being an admin over at GameApex kept me sorta busy. Also, you begin to doubt your writing abilities when you make a DD post that no one replies to. Then, a very enigmatic phone call took place a few weeks ago. I was talking with Glitterkill on the phone and he wanted to ask me a serious question. That question, and it's answer, has led me to here today. Things are really starting to pick up over at GameApex and Foe really wanted to concentrate of getting that site up and going before E3 hits here in a few weeks. Both Glitterkill and Foe will be going to E3 and Glitterkill will be focusing on PCApex while Foe is going to promote GameApex; hence, her desire to focus all her energy on one site. Doing so would leave a huge vacancy here at PCApex...a vacancy once filled by Foe and even the might DuckWarrior. I'd like to offer you the Forum Administrator position at PCApex, Rob. How about it? Uh, Rob? You there? After I picked the phone up off the floor, I realized that this would be my chance to become revitalized in a website that is solely responsible for my nerdy ways. How could I say no? Of course, I would be delighted and honored to accept the position. All my doubts about my ability to contribute to the site vanished as I realized that I could contribute in a more positive and beneficial manner. No longer would I have to struggle week to week thinking of new topics just to justify my position on the PCApex staff. Since taking over the reigns, I've found a new sense of excitement about PCApex. It was sad to learn that Foe was stepping down to devote her energy to GameApex prior to E3, but it's a choice that makes sense. She is a gaming goddess and a kick-a** website administrator to boot. With her having more control over at GameApex, the site is definately going to be absolutely stellar. It was also a shock to learn that BigAkita would no longer be with us; however, the man finally took his own advice. He's told several other staff members and myself on countless occassions that we are volunteers on the PCApex staff and at any time that should conflict with family, then it was time to go in a new direction. I want to send BigAkita much love and much happiness with his family. So, you thought you'd get out of here without another one of my long winded posts, huh? Well, too late! Since it would be inappropriate to use my normal tagline, I should use something else. To the Daily Disturbance, let me just finish by quoting one of the greatest news journalist in the history of television... Good night, and good luck. | Vic Rattlehead's Hoe | As a songwriter once said, "You can checkout, but you can never leave." I don't think you will ever get the DD out of you. I actually love the idea of the DD and many moons ago, before I even knew much about PR, I had tried to start up a weekly kind of thing like this at GruntvillE called "Chew on this". It didn't last long.
