| Speed the thing that we all desire. If we did not then we would still be cranking along on a old rig. It is allways "Gimme more and faster." But are we starting to pay the price for or addictions? With some jobs lunch has been reduced to thirty to forty five minutes. Forget sitting down, throw it in a bag wrapped in either cardboard or paper. Eating is reduced to a one handed job the other hand is used for driving. Or in my case a smoke in one hand and food in the other....who needs to BBQ? We can shop online that way instead of going to different stores we can have or own window shopping on our beloved computers. We have a huge inventory right at our fingertips. If we so choose we can even have it overnighted. Then there is the net. Just try for a day to go back to dial up. The thing is this is just a few examples and when i try to slow down well its a complete bore to me. I am finding it harder to relax. I found a trail of ants today decided to follow them see where they were going. That was fun for about 30 seconds. Went to the store to get some food. Instead of taking my time I found myself looking at boxes of food ( See above statement) and making note at the checkout everything bought could be prepaired in thirty minutes or less. Got home ripped into the new issue of Max PC, looked at it for about ten minutes, done and by no means am I a speed reader. I will be the first person on this site to say it . We need to slow down. Everyone in here knows what overclocking will do to our systems. Think about what we are doing to ourselves next time you cruise through a drivethru. | ||

| Im sure most of you rembember the brown-out of '03. That was prettie fun. Actually, scratch that. That was the most rembemberable part of that year for me. I made a grille cheese on the BBQ. Well actually, I used a bagel, but it was GOOD. I had also - and still havent - seen everybody as polite as they were that night. With no street lights or traffic lights or police and most intersections everyone was who was out (which was everyone) were being so damn curtious. My sister had been watching a shirt on ebay a few days before the brown out and of course the bid ended that day. My dad had signed up for some kind of service where his cell phone acts like a modem. My sister used a combination of a laptop and <56K modem to bid. She won it, too! I dont know if thats relevant, but it was fun. | ||
